I'm pushing for Stewart or Clifford

I like McLaren but we need a guy in the top 9 prefer on the 2nd line LW

- Killbot460

Nolan or King from the Kings would be great to trade for.

- saskoil21

Horcoff was a top sixer when he signed. Gordon's career PPG is like 0.25

3x3 for Gordon. yikes. A bit much. I'm okay with overpaying defensive play rather than toughness though.

(frank) that, he's a quality defensive forward ...he will help keep pucks out of our net.

For what the first 2-3 years of that contract... had there been depth on the team he would have been bottom 6 the last 2 years+ easy

Gillis calling free agents is like a guy in a bar approaching chics like this "um...hi...I have herpes...would you like to come home with me?"

Canucks are done...for years.

Or he would have been top six if we had someone to do all the dirty work in the d-zone.

Horcoff got that based on one good half-season.

Toronto was a bottom 3 posession team last year, lost two of it's best posession forwards and retained one of it's worst for 5 years.

- TheNugeIsHuge

It is kind of mind boggling how they made the playoffs with their shot-differential and possession numbers.

As much of the advanced stats guy would point out, that type exception normally comes crashing down to the mean.

Haha. Ferraro dissing the Boyd Gordon signing but thinks tbe Clarkson one is great. Agreement from the other panel twats. TSN is ridiculous.

These are the ones I like right now although apparently Cullen's all but signed in NSH. I'm warming up to Fillpula if the cost isn't huge.
- Morris

Fillpula could fill the Centre hole till RNH is back and then play top 6 LW

are we talking about the same player? Horcoff was an offensive liability for multiple years now... he was good on the draws and on the defensive side of the game that is it...

Horcoff played with a healthy Hemsky and a young inspired Ryan Smyth on a team with defensive depth. Horcoff works hard, is a decent player, but he is in the bottom 25% of the league in terms of raw skill. He simply could not be a team captain to a group of youngsters that are in the TOP 25% in terms of raw skill but just need a leader.

i.e. after Yakupov's FOURTH pass that Horcoff can't handle, Yakupov stops paying attention to Horcs' leadership comments.

Horcoff was a good guy, he needed to go. You'll see...

4 good seasons from 2006 to 2009 actually. Not 5.5 worth but not far off either.

Jim Matheson ‏@NHLbyMatty 2m

Love Boyd Gordon ex Red Deer Rebels' grit but $3 m a year for fourth-line centre is a lot of cabbage. Belanger made $1.75 mil

apparently some think gordon is to play 4c...really? i would say lander is 4c.

Cloutier now musing about the Oilers getting grabovski
- Morris

As long as he's also musing about the endless back-to-back-to-back blogs where his universe only included Horcoff buyout only-option-guarantees.

Nystrom would be great. Fillpula is all about the cost. What about Hecht, Halpern, Malhotra, or even Antti Miettinen?

Edmonton media love Horcoff though they won't admit Gordon is better.

Although Tencer on the air saying he's a 3rd liner and Stauffer didn't cut him out.

Cullen for 3.5. Wonder if we chose Gordon over Cullen... I think Cullen's deal is better value. Good signing to nab Gordon nonetheless.
