What are the Leafs doing with Bozak? Gonna sign him?
- Hemingways

Not at $40M for 8 years which is what he is allegedly asking. There are rumours of Weiss signing with the Leafs and many here are cetain Clarkson will be a leaf at 12:01 tomorrow afternoon. My guess is if they can't get anywhere with Weiss then they try to sign Bozak at a more reasonable price than what he is asking.

Yea it sounds like it was more bad chemistry with the coach. Sure you don't like him going public but I can't blame him considering he is a solid #2C and wasn't playing that role. Kind of a waste of his talent.

As far as I know there were no problems with him as far as the other players go. For the most part he was a good citizen in Toronto. He's strong defensively but is prone to stretches where he's absolutely invisible offensively and it can go on for weeks. I'd love him at $3-3.5M but he's too inconsistent to justify any more than that.

That's funny about Clarkson, the Edmonton blogger just wrote he was in Edmonton for a visit and they're expecting him to sign tomorrow. Free agency certainly has a different feel this year.

You could write a series of novels about everything Cloutier expects to happen and then file them under fiction.

Actually TSN Radio in Toronto said that Edmonton may be offering a monster contract that isn;t in line with what he brings. What the Leaf's offer is him playing in his home town, in a nicer city for a better team, at this moment anyway. TSN also reported that one player agent has 40 UFAs. So after the top guys are signed teams may be able to pick up decent players for reasonable contracts.

You're right it is strange this year.

Hate to say this but Paul Holmgren strikes again.

After a few bad starts the Flyer fans will get all over Emery and break him.

They probably use the same accountant the Redskins used when they were supposedly up against the cap yet went out and threw out millions in free agent deals. Of course as we all know, winning the offseason most of the time gets you nowhere. See the Redskins of recent years and this year's Blue Jays

Haven't heard anything but remember Marc Bergevin is the GM there and they were together in Chicago so that might have something to do with it

It's July 4, 2013. Plenty of time, and he will certainly shed $$$. They have 2 LTIR guys (maybe three if Mez isn't cleared) and they will be under the cap. But they will shed some salary anyways.... we have three months.

$2-2.5M cap hit. For two years. This is a guess.

Pronger's hit will go to LTIR when it can. Bam..5 mil.
- Blackstrom2

So they have 4.7 mil in cap space accounting for the LTIR right now. Not a lot of flexibility.

Better than a few teams. They have ten defensemen under contracts. Moves will be made to address this.

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Lecavalier-Simmonds
Talbot-Couturier-Read
Laughton-Hall-Rinaldo
Rosehill

Timonen-Schenn
Coburn-Streit
Grossmann-Gustafsson
Gervais-Pronger

Mason
Emery

This roster has Philly with 1.858mil of cap space, without using LTIR for Pronger, and signing Emery to a 2.5mil cap hit. I fail to see A) any need to trade anyone else, and B) how having almost 2mil in cap space before LTIR is being in "cap trouble". Thanks for coming out.
