If the Jackets are gonna pay him that, by all means, TAKE HIM!
- Hockeytown4life

Filpulla was a one time 60pts guy, playing with Zetterberg and Datsyuk. Other than he is a 30-40pt player, if he wants north of 5 million he certainly didnt' earn it in Motown... good luck Flip, wish it would have worked out better.

In other news, Wings will do nothing because they are not willing to pay -- we will just develop, as usual and see what happens.

Ribeiro to St Louis and I don't care what else happens.

Noooooooooo!

All indications are that he is looking for a 5 year deal. Someone will give him that but it sure better not be the Blues. Army is waaaaaay smarter than that.

people need to remember that cap hits for star players rising to this level is INEVITABLE since cheat contracts are now completely banned.

For a good demonstration of this, take a look at Parise's deal from last year ($7.5M cap hit but it was one of the last cheat contracts allowed).

You can make fun of the Flyers all you want for various other things but I'm not sure this is one where they deserve it.

I don't think there was any tone of me making fun of the Flyers at all in my comment. It just seems to me that the annual cap hit for CG is a bit hard to swallow at this time. That said, as a Pens fan, I also don't believe Letang is worth what he received. Both are great players, just not for that type of money at this point.

I'd rather give Weiss 4.5 than Filppula, he's at least hit 60 points a couple times and come close a few others. I always thought Filppula's deal would look like a bargain by the end of it but he just never got to that level.

8 years at 8.275 is alot for a 4th year player. If anything this proves Holmgren needs to be fired. Giroux would only be a RFA next season and I would have rolled the dice that his numbers will not prove this worth. If another team was crazy enough to offer it you would still be able to match. The Flyers should have gambled and allowed a sheet to come in, I guarantee Giroux would have settled for less.

Fippula to the Panthers makes a lot more sense since Tallon took the 17 year old fin center foolishly with the 2nd overall pick. Might as well being in another Fin to make it a lot easier a transition for Barkov. What will end up happening is Weiss leaves, a better GM and organization signs the rest of the UFA top centers and the Panthers will be a bottom 3 team again and ruin guys like Huberdeau and Barkov with their South Florida losing culture.

How does that contract lead to a work stoppage? Flyers have a cap and now have $8.257M less to pay everyone else.

I would ASSUME it was a comment on rising salaries despite the league screaming they have no money.

Parise, Suter, Getzlaf, Perry, now Giroux all make you question why we should have sympathy for anyone.

While that piece of poop Jacobs and Bettman will lead the lockout charge in 8 years again, I also blame lunatics like Holmgren for pissing in the CBA Cheerios. What a bumhole.
