They had no offers at the TDL because he was out with a groin injury that was expected to be for the season. Don't think many playoff-bound teams were jumping for joy at the thought of giving up picks for him. So no, it was never asked of him to waive it.

not at the trade deadline, before the draft! he had a very friendly salary (not cap) structure left on his contract for teams far from the cap ceiling...would have saved a buyout for the Flyers to use instead on Vinny next year!

I have heard nothing either way, but there is no way he is leaving Ottawa for Boston or Detroit. He is very loyal, like most Swedes. |

Also, from a financial standpoint, Briere was smart to NOT agree to waive it, since he's getting double payment. He knew he was going, and the only sensible thing was to decline. |
