If one of Desharnais, Gionta (or both) get traded I'm ok with the signing.

Briere can be useful in the playoffs.

Actually he didn't get injured much as many Sabres fans said he would.

He just plain sucked.

- sloppyseconds2

yes he does suck

only reason he stuck around as a sabre so long was so our gm could convince himself he won the peca trade that forced hasek out of town

They had no offers at the TDL because he was out with a groin injury that was expected to be for the season. Don't think many playoff-bound teams were jumping for joy at the thought of giving up picks for him. So no, it was never asked of him to waive it.

not at the trade deadline, before the draft! he had a very friendly salary (not cap) structure left on his contract for teams far from the cap ceiling...would have saved a buyout for the Flyers to use instead on Vinny next year!

I have heard nothing either way, but there is no way he is leaving Ottawa for Boston or Detroit. He is very loyal, like most Swedes.

If anything, that would have been used on Streit,
Also, from a financial standpoint, Briere was smart to NOT agree to waive it, since he's getting double payment. He knew he was going, and the only sensible thing was to decline.

don't get me wrong, I love Boston as my 2nd team but Alfie is going nowhere other then from Sweden back home to Ottawa!

Murray said it today on a news conference that Alfie will be back on a 1 year contract and they will work out the details in the morning as it is close to night time in Sweden right now...

That i'll give to you for sure! just trying to say that it's not an automatic that a guy will accept to waive his NTC as some habs fans assume... he has asked for it for a reason...

Even if Nashville manages to be decent this season, you know they're going to be boring as hell. I feel bad for you guys.

Yeah, lots of 1-0 losses this year. Poile didn't get it done this year. Ticket sales will tank and hopefully will spark some changes next year.
