Ok. That'll at least give them some wiggle room if they sign someone
I predict Dustin Penner 3 yrs 9 million to the NYR to the dismay of many |

That leaves 11 million for 4 guys. Stepan and Mcdonagh combining to make 8 and that's a low ball estimate. |

I could see him, Hagelin and Miller on a speed, forechecking type line. |

We would have estimated about 16 mil in cap space with Powe and Asham put on waivers. |

Sather did say he thinks a few guys you would not expect wil be available but he also said they have a few young guys that deserve a chance to have a shot so who knows what he might do. |

I think Jimbo might be right. Capgeek has updated the rosters and Powe and Asham's cap hits still are on the Rangers roster. Kinda making me nervous. |

should have put Pyatt on wiavers too. looks like at least one or two kids will make the team out of camp this year. I say move del zotto, then Sather will have about 4 mil to work with. try to get am above average bottom six forward (maybe Hendricks) in the 1.5 to 2 mil range, and let the kids fill out the rest of the team. JT Miller, McIlrath or Connor Allen on D. How about giving Michael St. Croix a look at camp. Been hearing good things on him. Or maybe Cristo makes the team with a good camp. I'd rather see a mix of these guys bring some life rather than signing someone just to sign them. |

and I still think spending approximately 2 mil per season on Zuccarello is a waste. They could get so much more production for that type of money elsewhere. Not necessarily goal production, but a better two way player. I like Zucc, but I just don't see why he is needed on a cap strapped team with bigger issues. |

I don't get all the zucc hate. If he were 6' 1" and played the same way no one would care. He's more physical than (frank)ing Boyle is at 6' 7". Seriously I don't get it. Guy was great for us and comes cheaply. |

I am torn on zucc. he plays his butt off and creates, but I feel like he gets muscled off the puck too much. and he definitely doesn't bring much physicality.. I know he plays physical, but really what is he accomplishing when he finishes a check? its not that I don't want him on the team, I just feel like a true grinder or a faceoff specialist or a penalty killer would bring more value.. all of this is assuming we get max production with AV's new system. If our top end scorers produce and Kreider becomes what we think he can be, where does Zucc fit in? he would be miss-cast on the 4th line and he wouldn't crack the top 6.. |

I completely agree on Boyle though. I would move him too but I think he is a locker room guy and Sather would move a few others before him.. |

mmmm grabo works his ass off too but not sure he's the type of guy we need. he's a center that's more of a playmaker than a finisher. i'm interested in either ryder, or clarkson, or clowe, or peter mueller, or nystrom, or hendricks, or brunner, or iginla, or horton, or jagr from this free agent class and no one else really. |

After reading this blog, I am baffled as to why anyone would be concerned, and not relieved, if Asham and Powe were to be claimed. One can only hope they are claimed. |

agreed. i don't mind asham but he just has no spot on this roster and i'd rather have the extra bit of cap space to sign a better depth forward. really wish they waived pyatt though. |

Agree about Pyatt. Perhaps he has a relationship with the coach. He played 3 seasons for Vigneault in Vancouver |
