It's no longer two holes.
Kadri is the #2 until he is ready for the #1.
Bolland is the #3.
McClement is the #4
Colborne is the guy who will see action at 2-4 to fill in for injuries.
We remain a team without a #1 centre.
Guess what?
Blowzak doesn't cure that ailment. - Atomic Wedgie
It's gotta be 1 of 2 things.
1. They have a replacement that's better than Grabo; or
2. If it is Blowzak he's coming at a price that lets them save enough cap space to be able to go spend on some other parts.
How the (frank) do they get rid of the bad dman with 3 names!!! |

Making a play to make a trade with Philly? They have some serious cap issues and depth at center. B Schenn maybe...he could be 1C soon. - FLflames34
I am going to do absolutely no work for the rest of the day. I've gotta stay on top of this situation.
Thank you Nonis for making my day exciting, please don't give that money to bozak |

Seriously dude, don't even begin to say Grabo in the same breath as Kessel. - faceto27
Different players. Grabovski brought more attributes to the table. Doesn't make him a better player, makes him more useable in different roles.
It is what it is, and you need to get over it. |

We cannot evaluate the decision to buyout Grabovski as it is only part of the equation... Tomorrow should be very interesting. But as of right now I'm in favour. |

McClement will be moved to the wing and play with Bolland and Kulemin... seems to be the only line set in stone at the moment! |

Very possible.
But Bozak is still unsigned and now Grabovski is gone.
That's 2 big holes to fill right there.
If anything, for once, this UFA day promises to be pretty interesting! - Pecafan Fan
As someone else said, Bolland replaces Bozak... and Grabovski isn't that big a hole to fill, based on his performance last season. If we knew he'd rebound, it'd be wise to keep him, but we don't.
I guess this buyout is a combination of issues...
A) his condition, no clear confirmation on what it is, but if it's something that's going to be with him for the rest of his life, he may never bounce back.
B) As Alec said, Nonis was pretty clear on Sunday that he expected Grabo to play a bigger role this season... so maybe since they've been able to talk to UFAs, he's got some guys who've agreed in principle, and needed the cap space. |

Kadri is closer to being a #1 centre then anything that's available in fa. I stand by that statement. |

why do you hate him so much?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PN_7Lgbqt0E - Leaffan8113
Because he's not very good.
We will never win with him.
He's not a #1 centre - he lacks offensive skills.
He's not a #2 centre - see above.
He's not a #3 centre - he lacks the size, grit and heart.
So where the hell does the guy get off demanding an 8-year contract?
That's for superstars.
He's not even a star.
He's not good.
The Leafs will never win with him. That's why I don't want him on the roster - and sure as hell not for over $3.5 million a year.
Does that answer your question? |

“@TOTruculent: If Nonis isn't clearing the deck for the immediate add of an amazing, super-expensive 1C, I can't begin to guess how they justify this.”
“@jonasTSN1050: Grabovski had 52 goals and 109 points in two seasons prior to 2013. Bozak had 33 and 79. Hard to argue Grabovski isn't the better player.” |

I disagree with the #2 and #3 assessments. I think he's got enough talent to play on a second line with good wingers, and I think he's got more heart and grit than you give him credit for. |
