so basically dallas won by getting seguin, boston won by getting rid of seguin, and the Leafs lost by losing Seguin

lol

Maybe not, they shed 3 players $13 mill, took in Eriksson a little over $4 mill, maybe, they netted about $9 million, I knew Horton would leave, but Peverly can play in your top 6 in the right system, so maybe
- puckhead17

they have $9M in space right now, with no goalies signed.

Now, that number includes Savard, so it's more like $13.5M... still with no goalies signed, no 3rd line C, and only 6 NHL d-men.

Rask will take minimum half of that. Another Mil for a backup. $5M to sign a 3C, and a depth forward and Dman.

pretty much takes care of all of it.

it's a good trade for both, not about winning and losing.

dallas got a great young player who may be one of the focal points of their franchise for the better part of the next two decades

boston didn't win or lose anything. they were in a poor cap situation, traded one of the leagues better young players to help relieve them of a bit of it, and got a fairly decent return for them.

toronto is a non-factor, it just does nothing to unlink seguin from toronto, and finally put an end to the kessel trade. that takes the better course of all the players careers involved in the trade to close the book on.

meh, they've still got over 5.5M in space, and have a much improved team right now. plus only 2 yrs on each deal, and Whitney expires next summer

hopefully not after tomorrow.

with bozak anyways.

it's toronto.

i'm sure new problems will present. like paying weiss or clarkson more than grabovski had, for more years.. and acting like it's not eventually going to be an issue.

Benn and Seguin together is going to be fun to watch for a long time.

They've got good youth and good veteran depth right now. Setting them up well for down the road. Not contenders for sure but much improved as of today and going forward.

with cap going down to $64M, most teams are going to be Cap limit teams

yah (frank)ing crazy.

really liked seeing Smith sign for "reasonable" money. Was kind of shocked actually, but good on him for not being too greedy.

Not a Leafs fan, but I'd rather have Bozak than Weiss, nothing against Weiss, but Bozak is stupid putting the gun to Nonis's head like that, he's a good fit here, another team may not be so comfortable.
Clarkson isn't worth $6 million, (or $5 million) $4-$4.25 yes, he shouldn't get much more than Simmonds in Philly, they are comparable players

I hope this is won't happen. This is why Dallas Eakins should have been given the job when they fired RW. Carlyle screwed Grabs and Toronto on this one for sure. I wonder what the (frank) he was thinking.

That's the kind of players we need. We lost one today in Grabs thanks to (frank)ing Carlyle and Nonis.

I was shocked he got that much, honestly.

If Rask wants as much as Rinne, he should enjoy the comforts of playing behind a top 6 up front comprised of 3rd line forwards

I was never in favour of Weiss as long as Grabo was still in the mix.

But Weiss is better than both Bozak and Grabo. Not a LOT better, but he's better, and he's used to playing against other 1C's.

Leafs NEED Clarkson. Badly.

Really don't want either player @ $6M though, $5-5.5M each I can live with.

there's one constant on free agent day, players get stupidly overpaid. when's the last big ticket free agent that signed a 'value' deal during unrestricted free agency?

especially as weak as this years group is.

you think someone gets a deal on Grabo, like 3/4 mill a year contract?
