shocked the B's dealt him already, really, "oh Burke got fleeced" yadda yadda
I never believed that when it happened, but I'm shocked they gave up on him that quickly, he was on the 3rd line to "appease" Jagr - puckhead17
the deal set Boston back 10 ten years, Dallas is now stacked for 10 years...Seguin is simply the ultimate lol |

I mean, I knew with the cap going down, (everyone raved about Boston's depth), yeah, ok, they will purge a few just like the Black hawks did in 2010 & this summer as well.
I just didn't think they would give up on him this fast |

There were obviously off-ice issues that brought it about. I hope he never gets another sniff at the cup. I hope the Bruins don't either. |

C'mon, the kid is still young, Kane wasn't thrown to the 3rd line to make a big headed 40 year old happy & look what happened |

I know, just making fun of the apocalyptic visions people made of the Kessel trail...Seguin gets traded a few years later
People talked like Seguin and Hamilton were the cornerstones of a dynasty
If they were Seguin wouldn't have gotten traded |

I felt he might be a buyout candidate, but next season, if he had a bad year, no hard feelings, if he proved he could be a 20-30 goal 50 point centre again, sweet...maybe keep him on. They better have some UFA/trade thing ready, because Kadri/Bolland or Kadri/Bozak isn't very awe inspiring. - AdamFrench

I guess the Bruins management doesn't piss around. It must have smarted to go out in the finals as they did. They obviously want 100% commitment and rightfully so. |

So who does Nonis have as a backup plan to Clarkson?

I agree mate, though this is the kind of thing you expect for a full new management team to do. Nonis had been with the team the whole time with Burke and was there when they signed the deal...Carlyle was the coach for half a season before the deal was done. Kind of weird to put that kind of investment, then one half season later dump it... - AdamFrench

seguin can be traded 4 more times, it doesn't change what toronto gave up in that trade. they'll forever be linked, as seguin would have been toronto's draft pick.
i fail to see how this changes anything. he seemed to fetch quite the return. not to mention he's freaking 21 years old. the kid has potentially 20 more years of making the leafs look bad in him. |

I agree. I was really shocked they didn't try to work with Seguin over the summer to deal with whatever issues they noticed. |

So who does Nonis have as a backup plan to Clarkson (yes)?
Penner(no), Clowe(maybe), Cleary(no)?? - Byfuglien Ate Me
Iginla(yes)? Weiss(only if cheaper than Bozak)? Horton(yes)?
I put in brackets my hopes, not what I think Nonis will do. At this point, I have no clue. Bernier, Grabo and Bolland all were unexpected for me so who knows.. |

Lucic was a healthy scratch this year, a $6 million a year player? newly freshly signed at that, don't get me wrong they did a lot of things right in building their lineup, but i don't think they handled this Seiguin thing right, although Eriksson is a nice player, they also had to purge salary |

chiarelli didn't think so...they gave up a lot of years of younger, cheaper contract years to get Eriksson instead of Seguin...something made them drop a lotto pick centre at age 21 pretty fast

not likely. 29 goals, 67 points as a 19 year old. on pace for roughly the same this season.
i was it's the toronto thing to do pray for tyler seguin to be a bust when they blow out their birthday candles, but there's really nothing to suggest he won't be a stud in this league. |
