I'd just like to point out that Philly has nearly 52 million dollars committed to next year with only 5 defensemen, no goalies, and Schenn/Couturier becoming RFA.
Things should get interesting. - Leeman4Gilmour

I'm not saying they'll gouge us but let's say they sign someone else for 5.5, their business model probably involves always trying to increase profit margins slightly every year. therefore they will have to make an extra 5.5 to reach their profit goal.
I understand that you're saying that a business generally wants to maximize profit by raising their prices as high as possible while still maintaining sellouts in this case but that simple economics model isn't exactly correct in this situation. There are many more variables in this case. If they charge max price will it push middle class fans to other markets? and so on
Regardless! I didn't really mean it seriously, any raises won't seriously impact any pricing. I was just arguing the principle of it! - MapleLeafsFTW
You know there is a salary cap, right?
And the Leafs spend to the limit every year.
Does any of this ring a bell? |

The Grabo buyout doesn't count against the salary cap but the payroll gets pushed higher. |

Is it really that much worse than what we had? Bozak out, Kadri in (advantage: Kadri); Grabovski out, Bolland in (point advantage: Grabovski, defense, intangibles advantage: Bolland), McClement and Gordon, proper bottom 6. - gravyface
In all likelihood, Kadri will regress a bit from PPG pace. Bolland isn't a #2, but a great #3. Jay McClement belongs on the 3rd line wing or centering the 4th line with PK time.
Asking Colborne to fill 15 minutes per game is a tall order for a guy who has yet to crack the roster for a regular spot.

Soooo... Ummmm... let me get this straight.
Vinny as a Flyer... 33 year-old who's past his prime and can't carry Philly to the Cup on his back alone.
F.A. Vinny a few days ago who could have possibly been a Leaf... OMG!!! A 1C!!! 33's not that old!!!! He has a Cup ring!!! He scored 50g+/100pts+ before!!! He's a 1st overall pick!!!
- Tee-Dot
Sorry bro wasn't me that said all that. While I wouldn't have minded Vinny being a Leaf as he is a serious upgrade over Bozak but I wasn't doing jumping jacks at the thought of Vinny being a Leaf. He is good but even if he was a Leaf, I would have cautious optimism where Vinny is concerned. |

I am really scared that Nonis is hoarding cap space to go make some really stupid deals on UFA day.
I don't think I want ANY UFA at all... they are all gonna get overpaid, for too long, and have contracts you regret within 2 years.
This is gonna be one ugly day tomorrow - Aetherial
Doesn't have to be UFA - trade may be better option. |

Kadri could also blossom with increased minutes and responsibility; he's had enough setbacks and ups and downs under his belt that I think he's finally ready to step into the role... now or never.
Bolland's a tweener, where he sticks is completely up to him. Certainly he's capable of Bozak points. McClement and Gordon are a perfect fit for the bottom 6. |

Weiss 5,5 for 7 years or Bozak 4.8 for 6 years...
Then Clarkson 6.0 for 5 years...

Same reason Apple doesn't raise their prices often, it pisses customers off. When they do raise it they'll raise it just a bit more than they were going too. And prices have risen over the last eight years. |
