I have to believe that this will be the CBA where teams learn finances and players learn that they don't hold all the negotiating power.
When you have guys asking for 8 years at 5 Million, and then seeing better players signing shorter term under perceived market value, you have to ask yourself;
"How can players justify what they ask for?"
Eventually, I feel it'll become less of a concern outside of a few higher tier players or younger guys on the brink of elite status. - Viktory
Sure hope so...it'll just be painful to see otherwise |

Who is Philly honestly higher on right now? Coots seems like a better two way player, but Schenn has the offensive upside. - Leeman4Gilmour
I'm guessing it's even...B.Schenn has the offensive upside and Coots has the well rounded game thing going... |

Unless we have a trade in the works, when is this cycle going to end? Stop gap free agents that we'll have to buy out when their inflated deals turn bad in 2-3 seasons.
I really hope Nonis has something cooked up. |

It will be funny to see Philly struggling with Vinny's 4.5 million when he's 37 years old.
Or Briere eating up 4 million for 25 points per year. |

What about Bernier straight up for Couturier/Schenn?
Has no chance of happening, but would you guys bite? |

Per TSN:
"Patrik Elias is staying in New Jersey after the Devils forward signed a three-year, $16.5 million contract on Thursday, one day before he was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent."
Ho.

The guy is 37 years old and just signed a deal that would take him to age 40 with a 5.5 million dollar hit.

Grabo on RC:
“I play in the [expletive] Russian KHL, I make lots of [expletive] points and what’s going to happen? He makes me [expletive] play on the fourth line and he put me in the playoffs on the fourth line and third line again,” Grabovski said. “Yeah, I don’t score goals. I need to work more about that. I know that. But if you feel support from your coach [you'll find success]. I don’t feel any support from this [expletive] idiot.” |

He was in Ottawa earlier today, man he must be racking up the frequent flyer miles. PS. Grabo's comments won't cost him a job in the NHL at all. Carlyle's a great coach, but many in the hockey community wonder what the heck he was trying to do with Grabo this season. Thing is, Carlyle didn't do it to him because he thought he was a crap player, he did it because he saw a lot of Pahlson in him. Either way, Grabo will land somewhere and do just fine. I wish him luck, 5.5M was always going to be too much.
