Bozak?
Kadri, Reimer, Frattin, Franson, Lupul, MacArthur, Gardiner, Fraser, McClemment... etc.. all played significant time in the AHL. - Feeling Glucky?
Significant? No. Out of that list only 2 players are significant and Lupul never played a full AHL season. IMO Kadri would have been just as good if not better and by now for sure the undisputed 1c.

Apparently fans 960 is reporting Bozak to the Flames is done.. - jbold
Back when Pronger was in Anaheim, Team1260 out here in Edmonton reported that we had traded Stajan and a first rounder for him.
No clue where they got it from. |

I can't on the Bozak file, Lou.
I've come too far.
It's personal.
For the next 19 hours, it is my responsibility to make Leafs Nation understand why we can't sign this guy.
I take my role very seriously. - Atomic Wedgie

Sorry folks, but HH is right on this one.
Go to Hockeydb and take a look at last year's roster.
The idea of a guy going to the A for 3-5 years and honing his craft just doesn't happen.
If you spend more than a year there, you aren't going to be top line material.
More than two years?
Not going above 3rd liner. - Atomic Wedgie
Kadri isn't any better than a 3rd liner?
Fraonson spent 3 years in the AHL and he was top-10 in defensive scoring. |

It's a holding tank while they make room for you if you are good enough. Most players still come up and have to adjust to the NHL.

Lupul played a full season of AHL hockey, but now that I look closer, it was the lockout year. |

I'll give you Kadri. No problem.
I'll give you Franson, but Franson isn't exactly a great example for you to cite. Yes, he was top-10 in scoring, but if the purpose of the AHL is to develop players, they obviously failed on Franson. The guy is so 1-dimensional, he is top 10 in scoring while getting 3rd pairing minutes.
So one guy who was sent to the A due to attitude problems, and a poorly developed d-man. Those are your best examples?
Sorry, but I have to agree with Honest Hockey here - don't think of the AHL as some "NHL College" where you send all your young guys and they learn how to be pro hockey players.
The track record just isn't there. |

They can talk.
They can dance.
They can book a hotel room, take off their clothes and lie under the covers together.
They just can't sign the contract until noon tomorrow. |

I think players still have to adjust to the speed and structure of the NHL. I think the AHL is a good place for players to adjust to the physicality of the pro game. These kids are coming from playing against just that, kids. AHL helps develop players strength playing against men, not kids.
Regardless, there isn't an argument whether or not AHL is a development league. It absolutely is. ANY league is a development league as long as the player is playing hockey and not sitting on their ass. The ultimate goal is to be in the NHL. Playing the game and bettering themselves as a player is developing. |

Counter point, maybe the Marlies aren't doing it right.....
From Boston played in the AHL
1. David Krejci
2. Brad Marchand
3. Zdeno Chara
4. Rich peverley
5. Dennis Seidenberg
6. Andrew Ference
7. Johny Boychuk
8. Tukka Raask
*Bergeron doesn't count
Next is Chicago.... |

Why does time matter whatsoever?
Allright, ill play. How many games does a player have to play in a league before he can be considered having spent some time there developing? |

And good god it's brutal to watch.
Nobody cares about the AHL. Junior hockey is more entertaining. |
