Then we'll need a winger for our new 1st line center. The Leafs probably wouldn't get fair value in return for Kessel though so I'd rather they kept him. I don't even want to think about trading him lol.

Rather have a top line centre than a top line winger, but that's just me. Plus we have some decent wingers at present and it's easier to draft/sign/trade for a winger than it is a centre, IMO.

Take Lupul for example, he was a throw-in and he's on our top line now. JVR is arguably a top line guy as well.

Who would Toronto realistically get for Kessel? Doubt Toronto would get a point a game center in return. I know you're basically talking about a scenario where you have to trade him because he won't re-sign but that'd be a bummer. I doubt you'd get anyone as good as him in return.
