Only the captain goes down with the ship. Everybody else jumps off. Burkies failure! He admitted it like a man.

you are right though as much as we debate. It just didn't click with Burke here. He did get very lucky with some of the moves he made, ie Gardiner and Lupul

Hearing that Claude Giroux and the Flyers are close to agreeing to an 8-yr deal worth north of $8 M a year...

HOW CAN THEY AFFORD TO DO THIS!?!?!?

- lumlums

Feel bad for whoever gets to be goalie in Philly. They do well and they can't expect a raise.

Looks like somebody's gonna be on the move. Hartnell?

In reference to him joining the Nucks, we are trying to get younger and less douchy.

Buying out Grabovski will come back and bite the Leafs.
- robin_steele264

This.. I agree with. Big time.

But if the space is used to bring in the right top line center, I don't care.

And by right center, I mean no one in free agency. There are zero free agent centers who validate buying out grabovski.

He was a useful player but this won't hurt the Leafs at all.... I'm sure they have a UFA lined up.

I'd love to see the list of gm's who inherited a disaster worse than the one Burke did, and where those teams, if any, are at 4 years later.

Exactly.

Trade is the way to go! Plus Nonis is 2/2!

Nonis says of Grabovski buyout in statement: "This is a roster move that will give us salary cap flexibility moving forward."

This might mean they will not use it all on this year but leave a cushion for next year,

hmm
Looking at the free agent pool, the Leafs could really use this Mikhail Grabovski guy. He'd upgrade their centre position.

Giroux at 8 years 8+ million per year. Holmgren is an idiot. Giroux is one of the most overrated athletes I've ever seen, the guy has been put up on a pedestal since he entered the league.

They need some of it for a signing or two this year but leave a cushion for next year on Kessel.

I think it was just the aura of Burke that brought such failure. Nonis was probably the one making all the decisions..lol
- Frosty_Nipples

I like how you assume Nonis is doing something dramatically different than Burke would have done.

Strange assumption given that he's basically Burke's protégé...

Huge trade in the works. Boston and Dallas close on a deal sending Tyler Seguin to Stars for Loui Eriksson. Other parts involved as well.
