I know that a lot of people are pissed off about this but keep in mind that Kadri still has to be resigned and Kessel next year. This could make next summer way more manageable. - Jeffmt
At least Kessel can get the money from Tucker, Armstrong, Frattin, Scrivens and L.A. |

It had to be done, I agree.
Kessel will want another 2m raise
Kadri won't come cheap either.
We also need to get Franson signed on too, and he won't accept less than 3.
It was the right thing to do. If we want a team to grow together, we need to ensure we can afford to keep them |

Easy tiger.
There's still a lot of questions to be answered. It's not like Grabs' presence was essential to us making the playoffs. Plus I really think Colborne's ready to become a full-time NHLer - AngryWhiteMale
Colborne...ready for what? He won't be on the Leafs this year...well if they intend on making any noise...if they are just going to ride the year out and go for experience, he might have a shot. IMO

Reilly and a 1st for B.Schenn - broadstreet11
You must be a Flyer fan. FUK NO, toooo much for Schenn. Subtract B Scjhenn & Reilly. Make it Gardiner & a first plus something else for Coturier & Coburn.
Or else, make it Both Schenn bros to the Leafs for Phanuef & a 1st. |

really? I don't know what bozie has done to you but you hate him wayyyy to much to give him any credit at all. - Leaffan8113
He's performed at a mediocre level for years, and forced me to watch him (and paying a lot of money to do so).
I'm a season ticket holder - I go to a lot of games.
He's simply not very good. He's afraid of the puck.
It's not personal.
It's my sincere belief that the Leafs need to improve at the centre position (an opinion that every single person who has ever seen a hockey game happens to agree with).
Bringing Bozak back sends a signal that you are perfectly OK with the status quo.
The status quo was sneaking into the playoffs in the final week of the season, and losing in the first round.
Is that what you want the Leafs to be this year? Because I don't.
Bozak = mediocrity.
I want better.
I demand better. |

Because he's not very good.
We will never win with him.
He's not a #1 centre - he lacks offensive skills.
He's not a #2 centre - see above.
He's not a #3 centre - he lacks the size, grit and heart.
So where the hell does the guy get off demanding an 8-year contract?
That's for superstars.
He's not even a star.
He's not good.
The Leafs will never win with him. That's why I don't want him on the roster - and sure as hell not for over $3.5 million a year.
Does that answer your question? - Atomic Wedgie

I'd prefer McClement, Bolland and Clarkson. |

Do people think before they panic about needing space to extend kessel and phaneuf?
If kessel were to get 7.5 mil, the team needs an additional 2 mil in space. Not 7.5, 2. Armstrong and tucker coming off the books clears that space alone.
Phaneuf probably gets extended around where he's at now if he's still here. Even if he were to get ridiculously overpaid.. It would take an extra 1.5 mil in cap space to bring him up to 8.
Logic. |
