Funny. I am hardly ever here anymore. Too big of a workload between Harris Hill and Wehrle and a huge job at the Niagara Falls Air Base creating a parking area of 16" concrete for all our C130's at this base.

One good half season just doesn't justify it in my eyes. I know it could turn out to be a steal for Cody. But that's a big if. Buffalo hasn't had much luck with giving big money to young players (Myers). That's why as I've been saying it for about a week Cody should get a bridge contract

Right and only did it in a shortened season. That's my point. Grabovski has 2 50 pt seasons in 2 out of 3 years. Cody was on pace for in one half season. Cody just hasn't proved it to me yet

Fair enough, however his Production has increased in both years played in the league. He could sign a 2 year bridge deal at 3 mil, end up scoring 30 goals and have 80 pts and in 2 years want 6-7 per. Or we can try to lock him up longer term for 4 mil and save cap space down the road. It's working for Philly, Giroux only makes 3.75 mil cause he signed a longer term deal

That's your opinion. Ill disagree. Grabovski had 58 and 51 points on a god awful Leafs team. He wasn't even playing with Kessel most nights. Cody had one good half season on the only real line the Sabres had (Pommer and Vanek)

You have 2 yrs to work out a new deal with Ryan and because you'd be getting him now you can work out an 8 yr deal.

Vanek either does a 8yr deal with Buffalo, a sign and trade 8 year deal with Buffalo, or gets a 7yr UFA deal.


Vanek is 29
Ryan is 26

Ryan does all the little things Vanek doesn't.

Ryan has 4 30+ goal seasons in his 5 full years (as 07/08 doesn't count as a season for him)
Vanek has 4 30+ goal seasons in 8yrs.


Bobby Ryan will get more of a return if traded now or at the upcoming deadline than Vanek will.
