Clarkson and Clowe might be slow but they hit everything in sight.

I'd take both over Stafford, Leino, and Ennis.

I'm open to that idea as well. Who would you target and give up?
- Pierceme69

it might sound dumb but we might have to trade ennis imo.

Maybe a player like Hanzal but i think we get a lot more for ennis ..

I wonder if the Sabres would consider a guy like Filppula even if he wouldn't consider the Sabres.

Comes from a great organization. Could play the big brother role for Armia if he has any chance of making the team next season.

Better than average face off numbers.

Still young enough that throwing big money at him isn't too risky.

It would give them a lot more flexibility with their line up.

I thought the Gerbe buyout was a regular buyout.... I thought it had to be a contract over 3m or something like that.
- Smittyx36

I initially thought the same thing. The $3M minimum was for the special compliance buyouts the NHL agreed with teams for buyouts prior to the 12-13 season.

Even though Nashville had a bad season and missed the playoffs for the first time in a while, we are still a cup contender...

I am not expecting much of anything come tomorrow. Maybe a veteran on the back end and a vet for the bottom six but that's still a big maybe. I am assuming that pardy an Sulzer aren't coming back; mcbain will be taking one of their spots perhaps. For me, it's really all or nothing with this rebuild. Do it right, play the kids to death this year and let them grow, continue to purge the old core and set yourself up for a top 3 pick next year. I am willing to suffer through a season of garbage if we come out better in the end.

Any cup contender should seriously consider Vanek. I'm surprised he wasn't snatched up. Must be Darcy's asking price.

No you aren't. Not unless you get some offensive weapons to go with the solid D and Rinne.

Clarkson would be great, doubt we are getting him. If the stories are correct, Clowe may have had three concussions in the last year.

Happy 4th!

The NHL allowed teams to execute one of their two compliance buyout options prior to the 2012-13 season on players with cap hits of more than $3 million. Two teams exercised the accelerated compliance buyout option: the Montreal Canadiens on Scott Gomez and the New York Rangers on Wade Redden. The players received full pay and counted at their full cap hit for 2012-13, after which the compliance buyout payments kick in. NOTE: The $3 million minimum applied only to accelerated compliance buyouts and does not apply to normal compliance buyouts.

I don't know who that band was in that video, but it wasn't Yes...another group of musicians using the name Yes, but no Steve Howe, no Jon Anderson, no Rick Wakeman, no Yes.
