He's not very good in his own end.

2010-2011 plus 14 58 points
2011-2012 even 51 points

Last year no so good minus 10 16 Pts def took a few steps back but if he can get me 50-60 Pts as a second line center I'm down

Garth - how long is your list? We are moving down it very fast but I do agree with your thoughts. I think he is a much better option that Cullen or Briere.

There are a lot of options out there - especially as we see these buyouts continue. The Sabres could do what Florida did pre lockout. They won their division by smart shopping.

People need to understand that the lockout killed the Sabres. We got off to a terrible start and lost confidence along the way. I still truly believe we have the talent and we can compete for a playoff spot next year. We are not in the upper class of the NHL but if we were smart we could be in the near future.

If I were the Sabres - I would trade Miller now and hold on to Vanek. Miller can get you value right now and will end the drama. If the Islanders are serious, I think you can grab a Okposo. We can get creative but we need to get an NHL ready player in return for Miller - top 6 forward and prospect / draft pick. You go to Vanek and you say - this is your team if you want it. You slap a C on his sweater and you reward him with a contract extension. If he is not bought in, you have him play for his UFA number and trade him at the deadline. A team would kill for a Vanek during a playoff run. Look what the Goose got us.

From a goalie standpoint, you hand the keys to Jonas and pick up a solid veteran - there is a bunch. That player could share the spotlight and keep Jonas honest. I don't hate the idea of Thomas if the price is right.

In free agency, you look for some compliments to the team. Filppula is a better choice but he isn't the answer. I would look to match some experience / grit with our youth and speed. Clowe might be a better target. He can be had for a 4 year 16M deal.

+/- doesn't tell the whole story. I know one of his weaknesses is his defensive play. It's better than Hodgson and Ennis, but who's isn't?

You might try to stop instigating. Be a little more cordial. That would help.

29 and going to want a 4-5 yr deal around 4.5-5 mil IMO.

If he's the 10/11-11/12 player it might be worth a look.

If he's the 12/13 player, yeah no thanks.

he didnt fit Carlyle's system well, plus the play of Kadri and Bozak moved him down the order.

I still think hes got some quality minutes left. Plus he might be motivated to put a hurting on the Leafs

I'm more inclined to give him the 4-5 million range than I am Hodgson but that's just me

Speaking of buyouts.

Anyone else notice that Vinny Lecavalier was scheduled to make 30 mil from 13/14-15/16 on his old deal and with getting bought out and signing a new deal he is getting 29,785,715 over the same time frame?

Cody was on pace to score 58 points this season. Same amount as Garbo's best season.

Just saying.

Funny. I am hardly ever here anymore. Too big of a workload between Harris Hill and Wehrle and a huge job at the Niagara Falls Air Base creating a parking area of 16" concrete for all our C130's at this base.
You can say whatever you wish and think whatever you wish of course.
I apologized to the people in PM that I felt merited it for any behavior prior to the end of last year.
If you want to keep banging an old drum , that's your choice of course.
Have a safe 4th everyone.

So what is he actually making per year after all this? Does he receive all that buyout money up front or paid yearly?

Right and only did it in a shortened season. That's my point. Grabovski has 2 50 pt seasons in 2 out of 3 years. Cody was on pace for in one half season. Cody just hasn't proved it to me yet
