Would it matter though? Personally I don't think it happens, but worse case scenario I'd take it. - Lahey
yeah it's not the worst way to get some use out of one more year of Hemmer.
Again, It's a poope unit defensively though. |

i like him too, rfa. $1.8m last year. i am just looking at all the unrestricted free agents so i don't have to come up with a trade idea. - deks1
I kinda forgot he was an RFA. Maybe they'd take a pick/prospect combo for him. |

well I am not too sure it would work - with horcoff being an offensive liability and with Hemsky and Jagr being defensive liabilities and all 3 unable to hit or control pace physically... further they all 3 would likely be injured by the 30 game mark... |

Jagr could probably take care of himself. You can imagine that he and Hemmer could have the puck on a string at times. It's not my ideal scenario, especially if we could move Horc and Hemmer for a not poop return.
Courting Jagr on a huge 1 year deal is more a function of whether Katz wants to pay then anything else. |

I'd entertain Korpikoski. Has size and is 26. Played in a good defensive system in Phoenix, maybe brings some of that here. |

Belanger and Grabovski on buyout waivers.
Powe, Hedberg and Asham also on waivers. Not sure what kind though. |

Belanger wasn't horrible defensively here. It's more where the (frank) did his offense go. |

Oh well its progress... buh bye Belanger... thanks for that epic faceoff win leading to the YAKUPOVVVVVVVINNNNNGGGG craze... which evidently was the highlight of 2012-13 season

Very true... When we signed him I thought it was a step in the right direction... |

He is decent. With Edmonton not buying out Horcoff I would think they have an idea of who will take him. I would have to think that PHO is at the top of that list with their need for players as they don't have many signed. Plus Horcoff brings them to the floor easily enough and if the new owner wants to buy him out next year he only ACTUALLY costs 2 mil. This could be a good trade for both sides.
I do think that we can fill our roster spots with UFA guys. There are plenty that meet our needs. Nystrom, Cleary, Antropov... are probably affordable options. |

We had been courting him for years. Back when he and Horcoff could have been 1-2 centres. |

I was really worried for a second there that Cloutier was right about the Oilers definitely buying Horcoff out. phew! |

That's original. Howson was the person who liked Hemsky, and he's gone. Jarmo has been pretty clear that he'd prefer a power forward type. - Jimmys7
At the draft they were saying Jarmo would rather small guys with heart. |

What you have against them? They are perfect bottom 6 players for us. Nystrom especially, he makes it a pain to play against. |

Not exactly he said he'd take a smaller 30 goal scorer with heart over a bigger 30 goal scorer with no heart.
Or something along those lines.
But ya Hemsky doesn't fit for them. |

SHHHHH, they dont need to know that. Hemsky fits perfectly guys, give us your 3rd and 4th lines for him. |

Cleary is never coming back here. Nystrom is meh, i would take a shot on him i guess. |

Why is Cleary never coming back?
Yes things were rough, but after he found his grove in Detroit he gave all the credit to MacT. |

I think the Oilers are right on Hemsky. Looking at the UFA pool and the teams looking to add a top 6 guy, I am thinking Hemsky will be affordable option for teams that aren't afraid of his injury history. I think waiting will get us the largest return for him. A desperate GM will go for him just like MacT is desperate to add size to the bottom 6 and a dman with some value people know of. As opposed to Belov who is a question mark. I expect Hemsky will bring us in someone good.

Well TBH not much- just doubtful that Cleary comes back here- then again I have no idea how Eakins system will work with this team... as for Nystrom with Eager, Brown and Smyth all fighting over 4th line minutes is he that much of an improvement? |

Yeah I think Cleary is a good possibility for returning. Nystrom being "meh" is the point. He is meant to be a big two way guy that hits. I am thinking of him in our bottom 6. We can't get all stars for every position. We need role playing guys like this. Plus he would be cheaper than a lot of the other FA's and he has some offensive ability. That being said he is just one of many options. |
