Fine, we'll take him on one condition, you take RJ Umberger. - Jimmys7
If our new coach is all he is hyped up to be about getting players to play up to their potential, we can use a big winger like him actually.
Edit: Like another poster said, buy him out if he doesn't work out. |

columbus would have to give edm something along with umberger to take his salary for four years vs hemsky one year. |

cause RJ might be worth it on the 3rd line...he is a perennial 20 goal, 40 point, 100 hit guy. Might even be the 2LW guy needed. |

Emery makes $1.15M last year, wins a cup, plays outstanding going 17-1 and you give him a 350K raise. Right.
Matt Cooke makes $1.8M heading to the market and he takes a 300K paycut to play for Edmonton?

I mentioned the Hemsky for Umberger swap as a joke really. I am fully aware that his contract is an albatross. He has a full no movement clause in his contract anyway for this year. |

Richard:
Why would the Oilers want Clowe and Armstrong? If you had watched a lot of hockey lately you would realize Clowe can't skate and Armstrong doesn't really hit people anymore which makes him completely useless. Did you happen to notice how much San Jose improved when they traded away Clowe and his fellow tortoise, Douglas Murray. |

Lmao so you are saying like 20% of the FA pool is all going to sign in EDM. You may get 1 or 2 of those guys but not all of them. - Meeqsb
Good post... (although I believe you are wasting your time telling nocloutier - he no hablo ingles )
Tom Gilbert is easily the worst defenseman in the NHL at his salary level. Any season seat holder would agree, he's garbage.
Of all the players on this one-man wish list, the only ones worth taking the risk on, if the dollars are right, is Coburn.
But whatever, we will all be having this same conversation in a new thread tomorrow anyways....so whatever! |

his cap is $4.6m. i wouldn't want that hit for a 3rd line duty. 2nd line is acceptable. although if some are saying edm should dish out $5m+ per over 5 years, then umberger is an option to think about. |

edm is not getting emery as long as flyers have cap space to blow $2-3m per on him. edm need a cooke, shaw, marchand, or neil...those players don't come cheap too. |

Keep him. I'd rather sign Ference for free at less money and term than Coburn's over rated ass. |

Cheaper than Horc and Hemmer and both of them were 3rd liners in Edm.
And apparently Clarkson will be asking ~6 and he is to be a 3rd liner
but yeah preferably he would be the 2LW |

New rumor out of Montreal that Oilers and Habs are currently working on a possible deal involving Markov plus for ?
Say Horcoff for Markov....it rhymes and I like it better than anything our blogger has been slinging. |

Okay, so you're looking at this and saying, "Wait, that's eight guys!" Well, yeah, I know. Why? Because I think the Oilers have a hole on the 3rd line D pairing, and Tom Gilbert is just there for the taking. Keep in mind he was a whole bunch better on the Oilers than he was for the Wild. More on this in a bit.
________________________________________________________________
Tom Gilbert - 3rd pairing RH D - As I said before, Gilbert was better as an Oiler. Once he clears waivers, the Oilers could sign him at an affordable price.
Much more, it seems. |

No, it's time for CBJ fans to get it through their heads that we are giving you Hemsky one way or another, so stop fighting it and get it over with all ready. - yaktalksback
And the Oilers will do this by covering 50% of Hemsky's salary (they can't take any more this is the max allowed ) all for the price of a 7th round pick in 2016 |
