And you can't consider guys like Stalberg, Brunner and especially Kadri as "cheap" options, as they will get nice raises. - rival22
Their salaries will definitely get bumped up a lot. |

If Cooke leaves, any interest in Eric Nystrom as a replacement? - kfinl170
I wouldn't mind him. |

We have like Fleury, Niskanen and Glass as candidates for a buy out.
We could pack 2 of them and get their salaries to add some nice pieces.
Grabovski
Scuderi
Ference
Cooke
Hendricks
Lapierre
Zanon
Russell
Larose

haha we all know nothing we want will happen. It's frustrating to see so many better players for cheap out there and we can't do nothing.
I wish Shero had a Holmgreen like kind of night and signed Grabo |

Philly.com says the deal will be for eight years, $66 million and will be finalized "within a day or two." Other reports also say the contract will be worth more than $8 million annually.
What did I say? $8.25M per year...what will they do with their RFAs? |

Giroux got an 8 year 66 mil dollar extension 8.25 cap hit. Seems fair to both Philly still needs cap space. |

I don't really like the thought of losing Cookie. On the other hand it would be nice to get some youth in the bottom 6, and finally stop giving the refs the option for the obligatory 2 minutes for being Matt Cooke penalty.
He's a guy that would have a huge shift when the team was sleepwalking. Hopefully there is a suitable replacement.
Good luck to Cookie, hope he heads west! Far West. |

Oilers are trading Horcoff to the Stars. Dallas is loading up at center.
This is a culture changing trade for the Oilers. |

Cooke is a good player, but I can't say I'll miss the shi*t storm that surrounds him.....whether deserved or not. It's still possible he comes back, but he's obviously going to see what's out there.
Am I the only one that was wishing for a bit of a shake-up? Not saying we needed drastic moves, but I can't lie and say I'm not a little worried that we're going into next season with the exact same team and coach that has failed pretty miserably the last couple of years. |

Dallas is making some solid moves. I kind of like horcoff over there. Oilers also get rid of his cap hit. If the stars landed Horton, I think they could be a solid western conference team next year |

Yea I was expecting some tweaks, but there hasn't been anything. Tomorrow will be interesting for sure, especially with all of these buyouts now. |

Looks like we only have 2 mil to spend and we still need to fill a couple forward slots. I don't see getting much of a tweak out of that. I'd really like to see Nisky traded for some wiggle room. |

Do you expect to see Shero doing anything out of the ordinary? A buyout or waivers on anyone? A part of me wish he would do that.. |

I like the thought of trading sutter to get grabo.. as well as buying out glass and trading nisk for cap room... Jeffrey can fill any slot but id like to see him on 3rd line minutes and pk... |

he's already said he wont use a buyout.
I wouldn't mind if the penguins signed asham (don't know if he was just put on waivers or if he will get bought out).
would love Hendricks, good locker room guy. wouldn't mind lapierre. if we can resign cooke... him and lapierre could make up the most hated line in hockey.
penguins have to fill out the bottom 6. it's a much easier task to do than trying to fill out the top 6.
I would like to trade jokinen and niskanen and glass if possible... 5 mil in cap savings could be better spent. |

An update on Giroux deal I tweeted about earlier today... It's finalized now: 8 years, $66.2 M _ $8.275 M AAV. Includes full NMC |

i would love grabo, but based on what he said about playing in TOR... don't think he's a fan of playing on the 3rd line. does he play wing? he would look good with malkin. his defense could be useful. |

Grabo can play wing too. I'm pretty sure he can. He's fast, defensively responsible and can score. I'd say he's a much faster Jokinen. Both have good hockey IQ.
I'd trade him for Sutter any day.
Let's hope for good signings tomorrow. I don't wanna see a 2nd coming of Glass getting signed. |

I'd like to see him with Malkin, but the top 6 is pretty much set unless they really plan on not using Bennett in the top 6. I'd like to see nisk get sent away and scuds and Dumoulin take his place. |

If Grabo was signed to be a top 6 winger, Dupuis probably would slide to the 3rd line to give us some depth. He'd do good with Sutter and Jokes. |
