As long as he stops the puck, it's all good with me.

If Bryzgalov could have just been more consistent, the nonsense around him would have been tolerable. If the guy's winning you games, he's not a jackass, he's a colorful character

- Jsaquella

On the flip side, if Bryz himself just shut his mouth, focused on his game and did his best the nonesense and distraction wouldn't be there and maybe he and the team do better, or he would have been given more time. Chicken or egg scenario of sorts, but something to ponder. Another thing, is some of Bryz's comments sometimes were (allegedly) directing blame at others and complaining and such...that kind of poop doesn't play well in the room (unless you're like Brodeur or someone who has earned that right)....Thomas's political stance is another animal and would not be as disruptive imo.

If it is a problem then Homer or Laviolette could have a sit-down talk with him and deal with the problem internally.

Well, if Tim Thomas were coming, today would be the perfect day for him to announce his intent. Happy 4th everyone

Not a Thomas fan at $3 million. He quit on his teammates pass.
- jstross

Why do people say he quit on his teammates. He sat out after the season was over. What's the difference if he said he was retiring and came back this year as opposed to saying he was taking a year off?

I like that they're bringing Ryan McKay in for a look-see. There are a few of us here in the threads that thought he might be worth signing after his season with Miami (Ohio).

I was thinking the same thing. Any reason he went undrafted?

Thomas' politics aren't the issue, it's how he made his statements/handled the fallout from his actions.

Just My opinion... fire away guys!
i think Homer needs to trade Read now while his value is high. Theres absolutely no way the Flyers will be able to resign him next season unless the cap goes up 5+M. Even then idk if that gets it done. I think they should trade Read for Halak. If St Louis wants a prospect or pick not named Schenn, Couturier, Laughton, Gustaffson, Morin, Ghost or and 1st round pick, then give them it.

I would really, really, realy like to keep Couturier. Unfortunately, we have to face the facts... Vinny will be our best FO man for the next 5 years... it doesnt make much sense to move him to wing now does it? Couturier IMO can play 2nd line C RIGHT now. You cant tell me he wants to be a 3rd line center for the next 3+ years, can you? I mean Joe Pavelski has done it, i cant believe he's last that long, guys a top center on some teams.

What i would do: Trade Read for Halak. Resign Gagne for 2M. Thats all. Honestly. Go into the season with this as our roster:
Harts-G-Jake
Schenn-Vinny-Simms
Gagne-Couts-Akeson
Talbot-Laughton-Rinaldo
Rosehill

Kimmo-Schenn
Streit-Coburn
Mezzy-Grossmann
Gus

Halak
Mason

here's the capgeek of it. Gervais was sent down. If he gets claimed, whoop de (frank)ing do. We got depth.

FORWARDS
Scott Hartnell ($4.750m) / Claude Giroux ($3.750m) / Jakub Voracek ($4.250m)
Brayden Schenn ($3.110m) / Vincent Lecavalier ($4.500m) / Wayne Simmonds ($3.975m)
Simon Gagne ($2.000m) / Sean Couturier ($1.375m) / Jason Akeson ($0.900m)
Maxime Talbot ($1.750m) / Scott Laughton ($1.107m) / Zac Rinaldo ($0.750m)
Jay Rosehill ($0.675m) /

DEFENSEMEN
Kimmo Timonen ($6.000m) / Luke Schenn ($3.600m)
Mark Streit ($5.250m) / Braydon Coburn ($4.500m)
Andrej Meszaros ($4.000m) / Nicklas Grossmann ($3.500m)
Erik Gustafsson ($1.100m)

GOALTENDERS
Jaroslav Halak ($3.750m)
Steve Mason ($1.500m)
OTHER
Buyout: Oskars Bartulis ($0.100m)
------
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $66,374,594; BONUSES: $2,960,000
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $885,406

- FLYERSROCK!

Many analysts and players have said that Vinnie needs speedy wingers at this point in his career, including Morganti and Tocchet (who coached him for two years). I think Read may fit best on his line, perhaps with Schenn. Read could play the St. Louis role. I'd rather not dump Read at this point.

Akeson has no two-way game why are you putting him on our defensive line? Especially when you have Talbot, and Mcginn to play the 4th line, as he's the better energy player.
- JAKEw1234

Do you have any idea why Akeson is not on the roster for DevCamp?

I think the Big Question for the Flyers is how the room is going to react to Lindros.

Too bad the Flyers didn't invite Zach Yuen to dev camp... I was hoping they'd take him with a late-rounder in the draft. Looks like he's headed to Dallas' camp instead.

Thomas' politics aren't the issue, it's how he made his statements/handled the fallout from his actions.
- Jsaquella

Actual Thomas's politics were the issue. Theo Epstein snubbed Bush the same way after the Red Sox won the World Series and there was nothing written about. Thomas snubbed Obama and was castigated for being selfish, a bad teammate, a right wing nut job, and a racist for among other things naming his kids with "K" names. He followed up with a facebook post supporting Chick-fil-a when politicians refused to give franchises permits because the company's CEO supported traditional marriage. He was promptly called anti-gay.

Thomas's politics were the issue. If he was an outspoken liberal, the media would have written articles about his courage. But Boston is a much more liberal town than Philly and cares more about politics. Thomas will be fine here as long as he stops the puck.

I don't care if it was Michael Moore in net as long as he stops enough pucks to win a Stanley cup

Why would anyone sign Jagr when John LeClair is well rested?

Pronger is (frank)ing with us, he will be back in a Big Way.

Congrats on the Vinny signing you (frank)ers, good price.

Why not consider Nabby as a 1B?

- Byfuglien Ate Me

Nabby left us at the altar before. Now he is being punished.

It usually starts at noon -- TSN's coverage starts at noon, so I guess it's the same this year.

I actually don't mind the way he handled the fallout. Said he wasn't going to answer any questions about it, and ended interviews when asked questions not about hockey.

Hopefully you just at a bad burrito or something and this feeling will pass. I want no part of Thomas. Would prefer literally any other FA goalie over him.
- BringBack25

I heard Thomas was 300 lbs, talk about alot of burritos
