Eh sorry I'd rather have Roy.
- JoeRussomanno

So in '95 Roy and Mike Keane were traded for Jocelyn Thibault, Martin Rucinsky, and Andrei Kovalenko. So the Flyers couldn't muster up even a similar offer? By all accounts, they weren't even in the running.

It would, but even knowing that Peter went on to win with the Avs I would still do the deal every time.

Better? Maybe. More interesting? No way.

There was never a more electric player like Eric in his heyday.

Roy couldn't handle pressure he wimped out in MTL and he would have done the same thing here.

He won a couple cups there as the starting goalie I'm pretty sure he had the pressure under control

Doing some research is not that hard and provides reasons why

A few things that piss me off...

Elias at 5.5mil on an over-35 contract until he's 40. As mentioned, no negative comments because Lou offered it. Lecavalier at 4.5mil isn't the griping point of many, it's the 5 years until he's 38. It's an under-35 contract to boot. Streit for 4 years on an over-35 contract, until he's 39, for a guy with a lot less miles than the average 35 year old defenseman. Homer gets cut up on those deals.

For all the crap we get about Homer signing players long-term, then trading them when their new, pricey deals kick in. Seguin's new 6-year, 5.7mil per year deal starts next season. Gets traded today to Dallas, at age 21. Where's the negativity about that on that transaction for Chiarelli? None existent. Homer gets cut up about Carter, Richards, and JVR.

Homer isn't a perfect GM, not even in the top 10 in the league I'd guess. But he is aggressive, makes bold moves, and doesn't lose out on many trades. Would we rather be a budget team, make no moves, hope to make the playoffs the odd year, maybe, MAYBE once in a decade or two make a real run at the Cup? Pick your poison, I'm a Flyers fan for life.

/endrant.

Look I'm not saying the flyers should get rid of Giroux and all that... Just seeing all these big contracts over the years and no championships makes one wonder. For what it's worth I like Giroux I'm just not as head over heels as a lot of people are. 8 years and 8 mil a year is a huge commitment, don't forget the full NMC that will be attached to it.

Woof.

Man...I don't know. I'm trying REALLY HARD to tell myself this means nothing for Sean Couturier's future in Philadelphia, but...well...um, er...whose roster spot is Hall taking?

Because if they were dead serious about Scott Laughton making the team, that math don't work.
