Any word on what Thomas did conditioning wise on his furlough?

From his FB:

"... I will continue to train using the ARP/POV system..."

Not sure if that's just reassurance to one of his sponsors or it's actually some kind of fitness system that he's adhering to, but that's the only bit of info there is on the subject.

MAYBE for Toews, but not Kopitar or Krejci.
- JAKEw1234

Toews has two cups and is a proven leader. He's not making close to $8.3

Probably not for Chicago and he probably won't win anymore cups after his next contract.

Of course not he's still on his second contract. In a few years he'll be paid at least that much.

NHL - Maple Leafs - Reports are the Leafs are targeting Stephen Weiss.

So for any of you that thought we needed another center.

My Vincent Lecavalier prediction is this.

In my opinion players who come here normally have an impressive first season with their new club. Forsberg, Briere, Pronger, Roenick, etc. These guys normally come in and start strong within that first year. After that they might have another impressive year down the road as the contract winds down but the first year always stands out for me.

This season Lecavalier will push Claude Giroux. Giroux in the end will turn on the afterburners but during the middle of the season with inconsistencies by both, these two will stand out among the rest. Lecavalier will be better then Scott Hartnell and beat Voracek by a nose to the finish line but for the most part, if he remains healthy, he will be our second best scorer on the team.

I will also go as far as saying Lecavalier will thrive by playing with Giroux and not behind him. Giroux is a different animal from Stamkos. Giroux will make key passes and rarely look for the shot. I think Hartnell and simmonds will be split on the pp and Lecavalier will be clutch for us, while making the pp as deep and as strong as it ever has.

This will be Vinny's first season as a Philadelphia Flyer.

Told it's not 100 percent finalized yet but looks like 8 years, $66 million for Giroux. Should be finished soon.

He's not the greatest defensive player to ever play the game man, which he'd have to be to outplay those guys at age 20. Feds has what, 10 more seasons of NHL experience than Coots? I think Talbot has 6 more seasons, and Gagne has 12 seasons on him. Read is the only one who doesn't have more NHL experience than Coots, but he's still 7 years older than Coots. Like jesus man I don't think Johnny Toews would even beat those guys defensively at age 20.
- JAKEw1234

I agree with most of that...but the perception amongst some fans seems to be that he's "already" the best or one of the best defensive forwards on the team, with the extreme among them even generalizing that to the entire NHL. I'm just maybe injecting some counter points into the discussion in the spirit of promoting a more balanced view.

8.3 per for Giroux. Getting Coburn should be relatively simple for us now.

He has shown flashes of being one of the best in the league. As with that article I showed you that you shot down with the totally correct reasoning that it was only a 20 game sample or something like that. But there's the flash. Over 20 or so games, Couturier was one of the best in the league.

The extension doesn't kick in until next season -- you certainly might get Coburn, but it doesn't have to be this season.

I came up with this today just screwing around...thoughts were you trade coots and coburn for Ryan and sign Scuderi and Nabby...Mez is traded as a salary dump and Pronger is obviusly put on LTIR...there is still cap space for Gags but honestly I would know where he fits into the lineup
