Bah....way too early to judge Mac T. No sense in making a bad trade if a good one isn't there. - Jeropotato
It's never too early to judge in pro sports... I don't see how moving down from #37 for threes poop picks wasn't a bad trade considering our assets.
I'm not giving up on MacT by any means, but he needs to do at least one significant move in free agency, otherwise they're just selling us more kool-aid |

They're in with Pittsburgh? I thought it was Detroit, Columbus, Pittsburgh, New York, other New York, New Jersey, Washington, and Philly in one with Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Buffalo, Florida, Tampa, and Carolina in the other. I'd check, but I'm on my phone. - MaximumBone

Besides players we got from the draft, which most have turned out. Name someone who came here and did anything? Justin Shultz doesn't count cause we did sh*t to get him here o my bad gretz and coffey called him and both have nothing to do with the organization anymore and I bet it was a strong reason why he came here. This is my opinion and I don't care who agrees with me, that's not why I come here to say things that are lies or hopefully thinking or bs trade speculations. Its so hard to be a fan. Every other team makes the hard choices and lets good players go to fill holes but not us. Keep every untouchable and this team will stay untouchable- untouched by Valuable UFAs and players that could make and impact to. Keep the young guns and keep out of the playoffs. One quick ? what if u could trade just saying eberle for two less skilled players but would fill two holes immediately and it helped make the playoffs this year. I bet ud say no don't trade eberle he has crazy skills and a nice backhand lol Why I said that, if u wait to fill all these holes you need to trade for them cause no one of value is coming here as a UFA or anyother way. If your waiting for all these draft picks to fill all the oilers needs your going to be waiting another 4 or 5 years. |

Point of the story is the team has fluctuated wildly in terms of how good we were and who we've had over the last 7 years.
Tough to claim the wonderkids are our golden tickets to acquiring pieces of the puzzle on one hand and saying NOTHING GOOD has happened the next.
Where did we get those precious trading chips? thin air?

My offseason wishlist. Feel free to disagree.
1) Sign Mueller
2) Sign Pouliot
3) Paajarvi + 2nd for Shawn Matthias + 3rd rounder.
4) Trade Gagner + 2014 1st+ Musil for Keith Yandle
5) Sign Boyd Gordon and Lapriere
6) Hemsky for whatever - apparently his price will go up after the big wingers are signed
7)Send Hamilton for Kyle Beach
Hall/Mueller/Yak
Matthias/Nuge/Eberle
Pouliot/Gordon/Jones
Beach/Lapriere/Brown
Yandle/Petry
Smid/Schultz Jr
Belov/Schutlz
Gives versatility as Matthias can play W/C, Mueller can play W/C, I'd also consider giving Kyle Beach a look on a line with Nuge and Eberle. Big, mean guy with a scoring touch. Plus when Mueller gets hurt, we have Matthias who can slide in.
Also please don't (frank)ing whine because I have Nuge on line 2, it's a top 6. Thought it was more even on the size, since Mueller is 6'2 205 and Matthias is 6'4.

This team can ill-afford to make a bad or knee jerk trade for the sake of pleasing fans like you. We have neither the depth or trade pieces to make silly trades. Patience, man, we havent even hit free agency. - Jeropotato
im mad so whatever but im not only talking about this year im taking about the last 7. People have said don't make a risky trade 4ever and its got us know where. |

We got them by being the worst team in the league for way to long. Real fans are getting sick of this crap. Like I said before I may not be right but if they made a big move and it didn't work out id be more happy then always waiting |

Here's a suggestion: Everyone knows that Belanger is on the move. It's not a function of if but rather of when. It's really no secret and it really won't sour anything to learn about it an hour or two early. Can you ask your source specifically about that?
If you can break that small, inconsequential bit of oilers news it won't sour your relationship with your source, and it would convince us all you've got credibility.
If you break that bit of news, I'll never question that you have insider info again.

Crosby & Malkin vs Giroux & Voracek vs Ovechkin & Backstrom vs Tavares & Co. vs Lundqvist & Nash vs Kovalchuk & Schneider vs Gaborik & Bobrovsky vs Datsyuk & Zetterberg. That is some SERIOUS star power in that division. Unfortunately, this means that 90% of NHL Network games will be from this division.
No one cares about the West |

Obviously you think you're right and I'm wrong, you just implied I wasn't a real fan if I didn't agree.
I see a shanked trade that sets us back at this point an utter waste of 4 years or so. |

That's where I disagree. Paajarvi is worth a good deal more than Matthias if only on draft pedigree alone. He's also shown more offensive upside than Shawn while matching his defensive capabilities. He's only beaten in physicality, but that's not enough to make up for the discrepancy in skill.
Also, that line-up lacks grit. |

I think Nucks are on the decline and the Oil are two moves away from being #2 in the division. And Calgary...well...give it a few years please. - FLflames34
Next few years Oilers will be challenging for top spot in conference, Canucks are trending down and with Feester running Flames, anyone not a Flame fan, can take delight in that....

im off 2 bed work early but instead of being a homer for a minute just think what if a big trade did help this team. If most of you were running this team we'd never know cause every young gun would be on there death bed b4 u trade them little own think about it. Tough decisions have to be made for this team to change. |

Matthias was a first rounder as well though, so I think draft pedigree is out of the cards. I won't disagree with offensive upside, but Matthias is only 3 years older and put up 14 goals in 48 games on a crappy Florida team, so I don't think 20 is a stretch on our team. Shawn can line up down the middle too, adding value IMO.
Could use more grit but Beach and Brown bring it. Matthias can lean on you. I would say maybe Clifford out of LA is another option. |

This team is good but not enough for the playoffs. I know be patient and I will always be a oilers fan always have been just frustrating from time to time. Trading a young gun could or couldn't be the answer but really its about time we started doing something being idle is getting old. |

Chicago didn't trade Keith, Seabrook, Toews, Kane. Traded Skille but 6 years after being drafted when they knew he wasn't going to do anything.
I believe they said on draft day as well that Chicago hasn't traded a first round pick for 15 years. It is do-able. What we lack is our free agent signings.

The big thing for me is that I don't think we need more top 6 scoring.
We do need a defenseman who can do it all. |
