im sick of gliding around the circle and boards in a poor position to distribute the puck and do nothing but kill time off the clock. I understand why the kids like him and all but how many teams that made the playoffs for would he be on the 2nd line?

The Sabres as a team seemed to like the boards. They are/ were too afraid to get to the front of the net...

I'm not saying we'll be a playoff contender but in this little scenario our top six is some combination of:

Reinhardt
Armia
Ennis
Hodgson
Grigorenko
Girgensons
Foligno
Flynn

While I wouldn't expect them to be a playoff contender, I doubt they end up being bad enough to have a legit shot at 1st overall.

- Sabresfan-365

I see your point
I think we'd lose a lot of games 4-3
Even though the talent would improve, I think we'd still be very inconsistent defensively... And all those kids are sure to make dumb turnovers
Plus, I'm far from sold that Hackett or Enroth are #1 goalies

I guess we'll see

and if we got rid of leino who would show armia and risto around the city and go fishing like the fins like to do

71 games, 25 points in 11-12. That is a Leino season. He may have had a bit better numbers this season if he kept healthy, but he is not worth more than $2.75/year
- Jawallstar1

Hes obviously overpaid, but i still dont see a point in buying anyone out if the plan is to be terrible.

I think Enroth will shine if he is given the opportunities. Hackett, I haven't seen enough of to know. His numbers look good, but who knows?

i'm fine with that assuming we get defensively more sound as our defensive prospects get better and our young forwards become more defensively mindful.

If we have a buyout, we should use it. Gerbe is an effective one and it clears a roster spot. By 14-15, we'll have plenty of NHL ready players in our system to take his place and have a shot in the NHL. If we are rebuilding, we should use our youth prospects.

There's another name to consider for the 2015 draft that has gotten early praise like McDavid.

http://www.eliteprospects.../player.php?player=146703

I know taking goalies in the 1st round is a big no no for a lot of people but the buzz around europe is that this guy could go top ten and he's being compared to Lundqvist.

Yet youre calling out one of the few players on our team that does take it to the net.

Ennis is a 4th line player? Nothing more? He produces like a 4th line player?

That is absolutely ridiculous.

Go watch every single Boston game after Scott dropped Thorton. They didnt play Bruins hockey at all. Yes I'm right. Even Lucic and Chara were no factors. I'm not saying Scott is why we had a winning record over the Bruins but when they stop playing Bruins hockey against us it helps an awful lot
- Stripes77

Even if I agree to that...
(which I don't really, I think we did good against Boston bc they had horrible goaltending in those games)...

That's the ONLY instance u can point to where Scott may have had an effect

Who else did Scott pummel that changed the way they played against us?
No one
Bc no one will really fight him

When enforcers fight it's almost always against other enforcers...
Correct?
If Chara boards Hodgson next year,
And Scott tries to fight him...
What's gonna happen?
Nothing
Chara will skate away & let Scott get an "instigator"

So how does that deter anything?

- Jawallstar1

Some of the goalies we have in our system likely won't recieve qualifying offers or entry level deals in 2015 so...yea another goalie. A much better goalie than anyone of the ones we have in the minors right now (at least that's what he projects to be).

That's one hell of a 4th line player. He must think Kovalchuk is a third line grinder
