I posted here that we'd never ice a good lineup with Gerbe, Ennis and Roy ...boy was I wrong. I am glad that they're getting away from the smaller guys but big picture-wise, this rebuild is going to hurt. Especially when you consider that the new teams in our division are well into their respective rebuilds and then you add Detroit to the mix as well; we're f'd for the foreseeable future!

Also I think it's all about the roster space than the cap number. In fact I can all about guarantee that. It makes room for Tropp to make the team:

Vanek Hodgson Stafford
Foligno Ennis Flynn?
Ott Grigorenko Leino
Tropp Porter Kaleta
Scott

That's how i see the lineup pending trades. I see them trying to keep the Ott Grigorenko Leino line together to help the kid out. Stafford gets bumped to the top line so maybe he starts producing. Not sure about Flynn on the second line but he isn't a 4th liner. Maybe Armia makes the team instead or Briere comes here and Ennis centers Foligno and Ott. That would be an interesting line reuniting Briere and Leino. But that's the lineup as I see it now

Irregardless, unless you are Marty St. Louis, no team can afford 3 small players. Can't believe we had Kennedy, Gerbe, Briere, Ennis on the roster, although can't recall if all 4 were in the lineup at the same time.

Darcy said he should be fine. He has been here working out and doing his rehab. I don't think they have any major concerns there

Think everyone is hoping for that. Last scrimmages before the season started Grigs and Leino clicked from what some reported. then when Leino failed to start the season Grigo was lost .

don't spend/waste time on garth's grammar; there'll be no time for the posts

My eyes bleed everytime I read his blogs.
I don't know what's worse....his grammar/spelling or the fact that I've read it for so long I can comprehend what he's saying?

Yeah very true but I don't think he would "pull one over" on us about a guys health. If he isn't healthy he goes to LTIR and they have another kid here

They did. It was weird. Not to sound all cliche but it really was poetry in motion. Grigo was everywhere that scrimmage and Leino just knew where he was and found him. It was hard keeping up

Halak had a .899sv% last year and Elliot a .907%, great numbers.

Miller put up a .916...on our poop team.

Don't tell me he wouldn't make them better.

yeah and the year before they were .940 and .926

Just wanted to throw my two-cents in;

Believe it or not, I'm becoming more optimistic about this up-coming season.

For one; Ruff isn't the head coach. As much as I grew to like him when I started to watch hockey, he just had to go. Players lost respect for him and his positive criticism act was too little too late.

For two; Unlike other teams, we're not crippled with ridiculous contracts where ~50% of our cap is wrapped up in 4 players (what up, penguins?)

For three; We've actually been drafting much better in recent years. It's always been obvious we were lacking an identity. Now, we're building a new core of big leaders who are not only difficult to play against, but have a high competitive drive. At first, I HATED the Ristolainen / Zadorov picks, but when you look at it, you absolutely must have at least 1 defenseman who will easily take 25-30 minutes a night. We potentially drafted two difference makers.

For four; Teppo's the team D coach! I expect the Armia and Ristolainen transition will go smoothly.

For five; There's no real expectations for this team to be really good. But you can't help but wonder "What if Myers carries his weight and then some? What if this team strings some wins together in the beginning, builds confidence, and rides the whole season staying healthy?" It's no secret that the now success lays on Myers. If he has a Norris candidate year, this team will be in the play-offs.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, the hockey team we grew up to love could be much worse. Try and have some faith

.940 is Elliotts only career season above .910 aside from 1 game in 07-08. It was a fluke. Miller would thrive there and the Blues would be a legit Cup contender. he's way better those those two.

Why, so he can suffer another back injury and get roughed up by the bonehead refs in the league?

As much as I loved Gerbe's work ethic, he can't keep up with how physical this game is.

All I pointed out was that "Irregardless" isn't a word. I didn't make insults or poor accusations. It's just a simple pet peeve. But by all means, be condescending. Lowest form of real world immaturity.

He didn't make up the word. It is listed in the dictionary, though not recommended:

irregardless |ˌiriˈgärdlis|
adjective & adverb informal
regardless.
ORIGIN early 20th cent.: probably a blend of irrespective and regardless .

USAGE Irregardless, with its illogical negative prefix, is widely heard, perhaps arising under the influence of such perfectly correct forms as : irrespective. Irregardless is avoided by careful users of English. Use regardless to mean 'without regard or consideration for' or 'nevertheless': : I go walking every day regardless of season or weather.
