Aaaahhhhh, back in the early 80's We used to get cases of "Genny Screamer pounders" for little cost and take them to college!!!

True... but the modern day system for success in the NHL cannot work with an above average goalie and weak-mediocre defense. Look at the last several cup winners.... they won with star power, great team defense, while having a goalie that got hot at the right moment. Miller's too expensive and I think we can win a few years down the road with Enroth or whoever in net.

We will be bad next year, and possibly for the next few years, however we need to build the team from the ground floor up.

i know it's splitting hairs but you could also make an argument that boston would have won the cup this year with thomas or khudobin instead of rask.

our defense is set, and our goalies will be adequate.

I just hope to heck that we build up an offense that's powerful and tough enough to win because we're going to need it.

also, i'm just sad that things didn't work out with the sabres and miller because i really wanted them too and i think he's a very tough goalie. that's life though, no?

When Matt Ellis is done playing, he will no doubt be an assistant coach with the Sabres or Amerks.
