Andre Mezaros and B Schenn for GlenX and a Third

No way Philly does that. It would be nice though.

Drafting has improved significantly over the last 3 seasons.

I look down at the prospects and I actually see guys worth following..

Sieloff
Gillies
Brossoit
Wotherspoon
Gaudreau
Kulak
Ramage
Jankowski - Starting to fill out his frame, hopefully will be given a bigger role for next season.
Ferland - Stretching it, but that 20(?) game winning streak was fun
Ortio

Then the new guys for me to follow this year:

Monahan
Poirier
Klimchuck
Ramo
Berra
Kanzig
Agostino
Hanowski
Cundari

Unlike the past decade we actually are seeing flames prospects actually be MVP's of their teams and they are giving us guys to follow in the WJC. Now I wouldn't say this is cause of Feaster, but he was a big part in bringing in Weisbrod. Weisbrod has down an exceptional job at refilling the flames cupboard over the past few years.

the flames have had a bad drafting reputation ever since the Daniel Tkaczuk pick. Guys like Krahn, Chucko and Fata. And even before Tkaczuk with guys like Sundblad and Mattsson.
- Jurco_28

I wouldn't lump Tkaczuk with those guys.. He actually looked like he was going to have a promising career. Unfortunately one of the things that can come in sports like these is concussions. After Tkaczuk got his bell rung, he never was able to fully regain his confidence and form.

So, both Jonathon Blum and Yannick Weber are going to become UFA's after not being qualified by their respective teams. Do you guys think either of these guys might fit in with the Flames roster?

Not sure where the interest in Blum comes from, tbh....Id give him a big MEH. Weber too.

I kind of agree... although we have enough holes back there that I wouldn't mind a short term deal with either of those guys, just to keep the competition level up a bit for the young guys.

So you guys are gonna win the games by bullying the other teams?
Toughness, size and youth will win you games but you also need Skill.
Other than Baertschi non of those guys have it.

Yes, thanks. Hence the rebuild......

It would give them a ton of cap space however...I think somewhere in the neighbourhood of 5 million which they desperately need. Not to mention they would get a proven player that fits the identity of Philly who has a great contract for the next few years.

Mez is a UFA after this year, the Flames could look to move him at the TDL. The only reason the Flyers would think twice is because I think they need the help on the back end.

He got as much as he could get for his trades given the situations and not a single person on this site can say whether Jankowski was a bad pick or not at this point in time. He's still only 18 for petes sake.
- Colin Dambrauskas

Calgary Herald did an article on him last week & mentioned how he is bulking up & is 6'3" & 193 lbs. & he's still only 18 years old.

6'3 168 is his current official size. Still needs to bulk up quite a bit but yeah, hes still young.

Although youre right, the Herald has him at just shy of 190...so...perhaps TSN etc hasnt been updated?

In the Calgary Herald last week: "Still only 18, he continues to grow. A shade more than six-foot-three now, nearly 190 pounds."

Edit:
Oops, saw you mentioned the Herald article as well.

If we're talking short term stop gap, I like Ference for a couple or three years. Still can play top 4 and he has been on winning teams for pretty much his entire career.

I still like Ference too. Not sure he'd be interested in a rebuild at this stage of his career though.

I would like to see Montador back here for the 3rd pairing.
