Ramo will be the best goalie in the world. mark my words. just kidding

I think Ramo will be pleasantly surprising. I should hope most dont have too high expectations for him, but I think he will be a steady 40game guy.

Good blog Colin, hopefully it will help the trolls understand what Feaster is trying to do!

I`m not on board with 100% of the moves he has made but OVERALL he seems to be steering the ship in the right direction. I get the feeling people will forever be questioning Feasters `List`at the drafts and I can understand that. Him saying they got 3 of their top 13 will raise a few eyebrows, but it leads me to believe that what you were saying in your blog is true: the Flames are looking for 200-foot players and this probably leaves guys like Shinkaruk completely off their list. Now I`m fine with this HOWEVER, although it`s good to draft players who you want to play for your club, it`s also about stacking chips. Drafting players you are really high on isn`t always the best formula, as if they were to take someone other teams are really high on it gives you leverage down the road.

The Poirier pick was a little off the board but after digging up a little dirt on him he seems like a nice player as well. Some nice clips of him on YouTube just flying right by guys.

Anyways welcome back! Maybe when you get some time you can do a Flames draft review blog?

...but yes, I agree and thanks! I wrote a few words yesterday about the first round selections and will have more later about the later rounds because I dont have enough to piece it together just yet.

the flames have had a bad drafting reputation ever since the Daniel Tkaczuk pick. Guys like Krahn, Chucko and Fata. And even before Tkaczuk with guys like Sundblad and Mattsson.

Every team in the NHL has lists of players who didnt pan out. Picking someone in the first round is never a guarantee....a bad development in and of itself can ruin a player. Just look at all of Edmontons first rounders

It's refreshing to see a plan being executed. (For me anyways) Hopefully they stick to the plan and keep gaining assets.

Although a big trade on draft day would have been fun to see, I am more happy that we kept our assets.

Going to be a long season, but I think we are heading in the right direction.

Nice Blog Colin!

I agree but a lot of things have changed since those guys were drafted...most of those picks were a long time ago.

Serious question. Arent you guys annoyed with Feaster? He seems to have been making alot of dumb moves. Oreilly signing, Jankowski pick, getting very little in return for his assets (Iginla, Bouw...), dumb signings...

I understant he has been making some good moves but in general, he seems to be doing a very mediocre job.

So you guys are gonna win the games by bullying the other teams?
Toughness, size and youth will win you games but you also need Skill.
Other than Baertschi non of those guys have it.

What do you think of the Seguin rumours?

Chats about Backlund, Gaudreau and a pick....I would look into that or any trade that doesn`t involve Baerstchi or Brodie. Gaudreau may turn out good but for a 4th round pick to package him into something like a Seguin would be a job well done IMO.

Also I think we should take some cap off of Philly in return for some assets. They have a few players I think the Flames should target. Schenn, Read, Couturier, Simmonds. Would love to see any of them in a Flames jersey.

He got as much as he could get for his trades given the situations and not a single person on this site can say whether Jankowski was a bad pick or not at this point in time. He's still only 18 for petes sake.

The Bruins sent a message to Seguin to smarten up and people jumped all over it assuming they would trade him because of it. He wont be - and if they do move him, it will be a price Feaster shouldnt pay.

Ya he is a little annoying. To answer your questions:

O`reilly - Dumb move but wasn`t all is fault. The ownership, the league, O`reilly`s agent all were in the dark on this new rule.

Jankowski - Off the board, haven`t heard much of him. But they also trade down to take him and got Seiloff as well who had a strong showing at this past WJC.

Iginla - Handcuffed

Bouw - Maybe could have got more...that type of $$$ is tough to move though. Last year he was the most overated, overpayed, untradeable bums in the league. Now everyone chirps the return.

Overall the Flames seem to be going in the right direction. I will never agree with 100% of what any GM does.

I blame all the bad moves on King and Edwards. If they're going to tie everyone's hands and get involved, they deserve all the blame when things go bad.

How do you figure first round draft picks, and prospects, is little return? Not to mention that they dumped 14 million in salary . . .

Since Horton decided to go to free agency the Seguin rumours are dead. I like the Philly angle though. Schenn or Cooter would be awesome.
