While I would have preferred Jones, Drouin being picked is certainly nothing to complain about.
JD has the skill, dangling ability and shiftiness to make an immediate impact at the NHL level. He could make the jump right out of training camp.
I wouldn't like to see him rushed to the top line, though. Maybe give him 1PP time with Marty and Stammer, but otherwise, putting him on a second line with Killorn and a center to be named later (my money's on Johnson... man that kid can play).
He'll do well, and I'll be he'll challenge for the Calder.
Let's say.... 18g 24a for 42pts in his first year. |

Both Zach Bogosian and Alex Pietrangelo are RFAs this summer. Offer-sheets never happen, but if negotiations stall it would be worth inquiring about a trade. The price for Pietrangelo would be sky high, but I feel like Bogosian wouldn't be outrageously unreasonable. |

Agree with all this, minus the Johnson as 2C bit.

With rumors swirling in Toronto over Dion Phaneuf, I wonder what it would take prospect and pick wise to make it happen? |

I thought Bogosian was qualified yesterday. |

Qualified, but that doesn't mean much (read: anything) in this situation. |

X= Matt Cullen short term until kids are ready or,
X= Valteri Filipula for longer and we use those kids to land a young stud defenseman. - Artyukhin76

He's 28. I've got no problem with his age or his legs, but his cap hit is big. |

It just means that they hold on to his rights. He likely won't accept the qualifying offer, and they'll continue negotiations. There are rumors swirling that they could be in for a long, rough road there. |

Looks like he's been playing for 20 years already. His speed isn't a highlight reel item, but he is mean plus his girlfriend would be a nice addition to the TBTF |

Old!?! What are you 15 years old? The guys 28 and put up 28 pts in 48 games! WTF, do you think we'll get Doughty for a song or something? |

More or less the wrist surgery last year otherwise not too bad given not too many play all 82 like Marty or Stammer. |

He gets criticized way more than he deserves. The reality is that he's a more than solid D-man. I'd take him on this team in a heartbeat if it wasn't for his $6.5MM cap hit. |

Give me a break Arty his cap hit is too much for the product. I thought he was older he sure looks that way. |

I've actually prepared a mixed tape. I'll be mailing it to Dean Lombardi tomorrow, and I expect Doughty to arrive by Saturday. |

It's because he's been around for so long. His $6.5MM cap hit hurts, but it's not unreasonable when you consider that Gonchar got $5MM. It's only for one more season too. Still, Dave Nonis did his best to shut down the Phaneuf rumors. |

He hits, takes the body, he can fight, good in his own zone and a .58 points per game. That's about EVERYTHING we are looking for. |

But 6.5 mil. Okay in his zone but yes everything else. He looked overwhelmed in the Boston series. |
