well with 5M$ left, cant they go sign a big LW player at 4M$ ??

who do we have at LW, Pacioretty, Bourque. If one of these 2 gets hurt, we are thin at this position. A guy like Penner around 3.5/4M$ a year for 2 years would be a welcomed addition

- The_Price_is_right

The team is built around speed.
Penner would be a terrible addition. Terrible. Who the hell would he play with?

Markov, gone
Bouillon, gone

Emelin resign around 3M$
Diaz resign around 2M$
Subban around 6M$

so lets say 10M$ for these 3 D and your D core looks like this

Subban, Gorges
Diaz, Tinordi
Beaulieu, Emelin

add whatever you want on D afterwards.
But the D is fine cap wise, how can you be worried

- The_Price_is_right

Emelin--if he comes back strong and plays as well as he did last year, $3 million won't do it. you don't think he can get that or more in the KHL?
Subban--you're dreaming if you think his cap hit will be 6
Diaz--sayonara, i hope

Subban will ask for $7.6M, Diaz will get 3, Emelin could ask for 4. Factor in Bealieu's 1.275...

You're also ignoring that that is just to keep our team the way it is now, not to improve it.

For me the worst part about Briere is that RDS will make him seem like the next coming of Guy Lafleur.

Even when he wont show up, make a bunch of turnovers, I can already see Benoit Brunet talking about how good he held his stick. How well he skated back to the bench after his shift, etc.....

Hmmm, what?

The worst part will come with the turnovers. Just wait.

Someone should edit this to Briere being smaller, skating into a mario mushroom, and then he does his fist pump and increases in size

that's not a bad pickup if it happens. tiny cap hit. good 4th liner. better than Mike Blunden...
- DoubleDown

I just hate him so much.

Talbot and Briere with the Habs would really push me to root for another team.

I don't mind both Asham and Talbot. Heart and soul depth players.

Tinordi will improve, Beaulieu and Diaz also

Emelin depends on what kind of season he gives.

Subban might get 7 and a half, might also go for less with carey price type of money, you never know

After this year's talks and a norris win, he's not taking less than 7

Bealieu will improve. He wasn't an NHLer last season, how can he not improve? He's also a massive downgrade from MArkov at this point in their careers.

It's not a turnover when you just float back to the defensive zone and watch the other team score...

Not like they have the choice, unless NJ want him back and the Habs taking some of his salary (1,5M$).
