Pretty much. Our lineup is full so it'll take a trade to accomplish anything. LeBrun just said Briere was the Habs move. Don't expect anything else.

well with 5M$ left, cant they go sign a big LW player at 4M$ ??

who do we have at LW, Pacioretty, Bourque. If one of these 2 gets hurt, we are thin at this position. A guy like Penner around 3.5/4M$ a year for 2 years would be a welcomed addition

Oui, mais brailler sur les potentiels ajouts est pas vraiment nécessaire.

Can they even trade Gionta? (isn't he on IR?)
- BashCH

is he? i'm not sure. anyway, i look forward to Bergevin's answer at the PC today when someone asks him about the size of our forwards.

well that's a stretch. we gave up our best prospect after PK in the Gomez trade. and he had 5 years and a massive cap hit. this isn't quite the same. the only thing that bugs me is, as someone mentioned earlier, this is starting to feel again like the Bob Gainey era, where the team is putting way too much emphasis on speed and skill (our first round pick notwithstanding).
- DoubleDown

Agreed.

At least, it's not like a trade, he didn't had to give any assets.
Also, in Montreal, he can't really stay put, tank and wait for prospects to be ready.

He was in St-Hyacinthe yesterday along with Marc Bergevins and many Canadiens!!!!

It was a charity golf tournament though. Hopefully that's all that was....

no, that was with the current cap. With 5 outdoor games, I suspect the revenues drive the cap back to $70M

for sure. but this team has so many needs and didn't have a ton of cap space. i just don't understand why Bergevin blew half of it on a player who doesn't fill any of those needs.

Markov, gone
Bouillon, gone

Emelin resign around 3M$
Diaz resign around 2M$
Subban around 6M$

so lets say 10M$ for these 3 D and your D core looks like this

Subban, Gorges
Diaz, Tinordi
Beaulieu, Emelin

add whatever you want on D afterwards.
But the D is fine cap wise, how can you be worried

that's not a bad pickup if it happens. tiny cap hit. good 4th liner. better than Mike Blunden...
