That is the plan!
Other names will be added, some we won't be happy to hear about. If we can keep it down to Brière and Gallagher for our 2 small guys, we'll be fine.

it will be at least 2 years since his last playoff game before he has another one. who knows if he still wil lbe.

Honestly, considering the guy was sought after by 16 teams (per LeBrun) I'm happy he signed here even if I wouldnt have pursued him.

I just hope there is more change on the way.

DD + Beaulieu+ 2nd pick for Edler?

but yeah, this really feels like the day after the Gomez debacle.
- stinger67

well that's a stretch. we gave up our best prospect after PK in the Gomez trade. and he had 5 years and a massive cap hit. this isn't quite the same. the only thing that bugs me is, as someone mentioned earlier, this is starting to feel again like the Bob Gainey era, where the team is putting way too much emphasis on speed and skill (our first round pick notwithstanding).

not sure about this, but I read somewhere that since the cap is going down this year, the new CBA says teams are allowed to go over it for 35+ years old player...but just for next season.

If that's the case, it would mean that the Brière contract doesn't hinder the team capwise for 2013-14

I don't really know for sure if that's true

- stinger67

There is a clause in there for 35+ players for this year, but whatever they go over this year comes off next years cap.

I believe.

there can't be much. we have $5 million in cap space left (from what i read on TSN). so unless Desharnais or Gionta is traded, i don't see much happening other than a depth move.

Can they even trade Gionta? (isn't he on IR?)

Pretty much. Our lineup is full so it'll take a trade to accomplish anything. LeBrun just said Briere was the Habs move. Don't expect anything else.
