I think it would be AWESOME if the Habs signed Stalberg and Penner.

We're also getting Komisarek back for the league minimum.

So what player are the Habs gona sign ?
I'm looking at the free agents this year, and there are a ton !
With most teams already at cap maximum, some big names might sign for cheap

Here are a few players I would like the habs to shoot at

Iginla
Horton
Elias
Stalberg
Penner
Clarkson

what do you think ?

- The_Price_is_right

I suspect it'll be Stalberg and nothing more.

EDIT: ...that they go after. They'll ultimately sign none of those names.

Hard to say, soo many UFAs, and alot of teams with cap issues.

I would say let teams battle out and overpay some of the top UFAs, then you will still have over 10 quality players with no homes. unless they want to go play in the KHL at 30+ years of age. Or take a paycut to stay in the NHL.

this could be a year where we see top talent go cheap

Let's pay taxes when you're not even able to pay for firetrucks to let a group of very rich men lose money for at least 5 more years!

Vincent Lecavalier's inevitable decision to play with the Philadelphia Flyers helped confirm what we've long known about this era of professional sport; romance is dead.

Why not? They're getting it. Mike (frank)ing Smith got a 6 year 5.66 mil a year deal, for one great year and one mediocre one.

That is why I like Bergevin, he is doing a smart job.
He put himself in a position where he has nearly 11M$ to play with this summer

aw... give him a break...

the Habs couldn't part with Halak, Ryder and 2nd when they had the chance to get Vinny...

now the heartbreak in Montreal must be enormous...

but it is a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy....

1) develop young french canadian star... who leaves the province when drafted
2) watch same star develop far from home
3) be part of distinct society in Quebec... or at least not opposed to it and directly lead to higher taxation in the country so that those transfer payments remain to keep all those necessary services functioning
4) watch treasures such as Vinny not want to come home because of higher taxation and less net income...

the circle is perfect.
