Gerbe is useless. wouldn't worry about him signing here. Briere on the other hand... dunno. Ek called the Lecavalier signing. i'm starting to worry that he's bang on about Briere. then what? Gionta is untradeable with that bicep injury. Gallagher... are we really going to move him to make room for Briere? and would anyone even take DD? i don't see any way we don't go into the season with 4 of the smallest forwards in the league playing huge roles.
- DoubleDown

Gionta may not be ready to start the year, could see Bergevin just having Briere taking his spot, since Briere would sadly be either the most or second most skilled forward on this team.

Someone needs to tell Bergevin that yes, local talent is important, but in Brière's case, seriously, we're fine if he doesn't get him. In fact, it would be awesome if he didn't.

And I believe that Montreal is one of those 3 teams still in on Briere...

If bergevin signs Briere, can somebody speculate what exactly he is up to?

Makes zero sense to me, unless it is a one year deal to shop him at the deadline.

one-year option, trades Desharnais, moves Galchenyuk to centre in 14-15?
adds a winger in UFA or trade? that's all i can think of and it's a long shot.

He wants a 1 year deal so he can play in Philly again in a year.

Not overly thrilled about Briere, even as a cheap replacement for Ryder he's kind of redundant...

If it was only the fact it's another small forward.

I (frank)ing hate that little dippoop and his little cheapshots.

i'm gonna give MB the benefit of the doubt and not judge until he's had time to make his moves. maybe he has something else worked out that will be triggered by a Briere signing?

don't care about any of that if he puts the puck in the net. but the size thing irks me.

I'm okay with the signing if it is a one year deal. You think he doesn't push for 2-3 years?

for what? He is not worth much right now. Have to hope Feaster and Hartley does them a favour. They need and center. Problem is Mtl will need to fill the second line center role and it's not Eller.

IT's going to be an 82 game year. Many more injuries are likely. need depth.

Why?

I think it's about time they see what he can do.

He was the Habs best center in the 2nd half of the season last year until he got killed by Diaz.

Yup, they should get depth that is 6 feet 200 lb. Briere looks to be a done deal to be announced at 12:00. Hope it's wrong and he signs in NJ.

boom. that's the point. depth doesn't mean all that much when half the guys you throw out there could get knocked off the puck by Vern Troyer.

He is a good #3 centre. Just like Plek is a good #2 center. Just like Koivu was a #2 center. The Habs put their players in the wrong spots. Eller will be expected to produce and when he doesn't everyone will crap on him. He is a fragile character and I don't know how he will come back from that hit.

Thing is guys, Briere would be one of the, if not the best player on this team. Briere will sign a one year deal. Bergevin will move a couple of guys soon after.
