I might be alone on this but I want Clarkson! Can you imagine him playing with tavares and bailey? He can protect Tavares and chip in goals and can scare the helluva out of other players. Clarkson, Clutterback, CIzikas, Mcdonald, and Martin. OOOOOH!

@StapeNewsday: Rick DiPietro tells Newsday: "The #Isles are finally (turning a corner) and the most disappointing part is that I won't be a part of it."

Hahahaha.. He also said this is the healthiest summer he's had in a while.

That's because he's not stretching that groin or knee ligaments just putting those pads on.

Here's the thing....20 games of him equals 12 losses, equals no playoffs....equals no corner being turned. Sometimes, things are directly related....

Like I said- it's not personal. He can't play. CANNOT. If he could, we could sure use him for a couple more years....it would have made Snow's life A LOT easier right about now...

100 % correct. I never hated who he is or what he tried to do for this team. I hated that the organization kept him around far longer then they should have. I'm sure he's a great person, was a good teammate, hell! when he went down to the AHL, he bought all of the kids on the team a steak dinner!
As much as the Isles would get made fun of for it, I hope when DP realizes he can't play any longer, he comes back to the team in some fashion to try and help. JUST PLEASE DON'T MAKE HIM BE THE NEXT COACH?!

Agree. Although the comments previous to mine are absolutely true, it makes me feel bad for the guy.

He will probably still be playing for that team you think is going to sign him?

RDP is not what people hated. It was what he represented. His buy out symbolizes a true turning of a page on a regrettable era in islanders history. I hope he finds a new team if continuing to playis what he truly wants to do.

I just don't hate Dipietro. I strongly feel that we despised him because of what he couldn't done for us on ice for years. Every time we had the opportunity to see him on ice, he ended up getting hurt or didn't play to his caliber. I hope he finds a new team and shine on that team or become a successful head coach or whatever

Look at his stats prior to this past year...he was a 20+ goal scorer. Good 2nd line center. I wouldn't be suprised if Garth gives him a call. I read he inquired about him at the deadline before he got the big contract.

From TSN:

Windy City Return?

Dreger reports that there is action on Chicago Blackhawks goalie Ray Emery. The Flyers, Islanders, and Oilers are believed to be chasing, while the Blackhawks are also in discussions to re-sign the 30-year-old netminder.
