I think it would just be smarter to make sure you select at least 3 total goalies every 2 years
- PhillySportsGuy

Ya but with our dire need in that position, and that being the only position in our draft pool we actually have a dire need for, I think 1 year doing this would be good. Or we could check out some undrafted goalies or european talent, really anything.

Kid took a tremendous dive.. He was at one point in the 20's in rankings. Lets cross our fingers and hope he proves the experts wrong.

You have an miserable season for a bad team. He took a step back, which was a deathknell for his prospects.

Per Todd Cordell, the Flyers have apparently invited undrafted forward Stephen Harper to their rookie camp. He was rated by some as a potential 1st rounder for the 2013 draft and some how failed to get drafted.

Definitely interested to see him, might earn himself a contract with a strong showing.

I cant imagine how someone could go from the first round, to not drafted at all, even in the 7th round.... He must have had awful combine and interviews....

How do get projected to go 1st round and not even get drafted? Like how does that even happen?

But whatever, we're really good at getting good undrafted players, so I'm game.

I would select a goalie in each of the 5th, 6th and 7th round for the next 3-4 years until you find that hidden gem like Lundquist.

Honestly I can't imagine how bad of a 2nd half of a season you would need to have to go from being ranked in the 20's to not being drafted.

Oh, so its not like he went into draft weekend as a projected 1st rounder... that makes more sense.

He was in the 20's before the season started, only managed 38 points in 67 after having 35 in 63 the season before. Was expected to take a leadership role, and..well, he didn't.

Im pretty sure the majority of all star goalies in the past few years have been hidden gems like that. My personal draft policy:
1st round: Best available prospect
2nd round: Best available defenseman
3rd round: Best available goaltender
4th round: Best available goaltender
5th round: Best available prospect
6th round: Best available prospect
7th round: Best available prospect

I still don't know if that warrants him going totally undrafted.

The two seasons with the Otters (all that's on hockeydb.com) were very similar, and don't look like they necessitate the slip. There must be something else...

Here is a good article on him...

http://thehockeywriters.c...3-draft-prospect-profile/

He is an 18 year old and was only first year eligible in 2013. Can we even sign him or does he go back in the draft next year?

I asked Cordell about him, he likes the kid's talent level...The Otters were not a good team, in fact only the Ottawa 67s were worse in the whole OHL.
