Given the Flyers luck:

1. DiPietro signs as a backup.
2. Mason suffers career-ending knee injury making spectacular save on Crosby.
3. DiPietro, attempting to relieve Mason, suffers season-ending shoulder injury opening bench door
4. Flyers lose game 6-5 on Crosby EN with 0:03 remaining playing the entire 3rd period 6-on-5.
5. Leighton v4.0 is signed, and wins the Vezina, leading the Flyers to Game 7 of the Finals where he gives up an OT 5-hole goal from the half boards.
6. Leighton signed to 5-year, $30M contract.
7. Leighton reveals career-ending back injury.

don't forget steps 5-7 also involve Boucher as the back-up

As happy as I am to know Giroux will soon be extended, I hope he understands the pressures of having a huge cap hit. I hope Homer can adjust the hit to be modest for a future super star. If not, I hate to see him be moved in the same fashion as Richards, Carter or Briere. Giroux deserves whatever he signs for but hopefully the flyers and Giroux can be smart about this to keep him a life long flyer.

you forgot to mention that it sneeks through the five hole because he misread the shot and was in the process of ducking.

How about Read, Coburn, 2nd for Ryan, then Couturier, Cousins, Hagg for Edler.

Not at all out of context. It retorted exactly what you stated. And as far as puck movement goes. Streit is top level.
- MJL

the context was "the contingency plan for replacing Pronger"

if you think streit fills the bill as even a contingency plan for kimmo, that's fine. on one side of the puck he is- kinda...but overall, no. dougie would have offered the best chance to "replace pronger" and i understood the BPA at the time, though i disagreed based on what any fan could know about potential draftees. done.

or was looking at the jumbotron and didn't see a 180 foot shot on the ice that blew a 5-0 lead and tied the game.

Anyone think that Lecavalier's presence will be good for Giroux specifically? Sort of the way Jagr was to a lot of different Flyers last year? They each have the canadian, center, captain, large expectation thing in common.

That would be another benefit you can't really measure, I like the trade even more today and I was excited yesterday.

On another note, what do you think Nashville is thinking right now?

-Wow, our D is set for possibly the next 7 years.
Or
-Wow, we can become a contender next year with the return we get on one of these guys?

Your comment was that Holmgren still has not acquired a player with top pairing potential. I pointed out how that statement is untrue. It seems as though the context changes with each post.
I just hope this franchise can somewhow overcome the devastation it is facing by selecting Couturier over Hamilton in last year's draft.

There is no contingency plan for replacing a Hall of Fame elite defenseman. No such thing.
