What about a threeway trade.

Coburn to Edmonton
Edler to Philly
Read+Oiler prospects to Vancouver

15-years x $15M = $225M... and that's from a city with a tax base of just over 200k, not the Feds.

As for NPR being the President's mouthpiece, FAIR (left-leaning media watchdog group) actually did an in-depth study and found that NPR's news coverage actually has a slight right-leaning slant, lol.

Doesn't matter. 200 million is on top of thier normal opperating budgets and it comes out of the tax payers pockets. Doesnt matter if they are liberal or conserative. They are a good example of big government spending at will. Why does a public funded radio station have to have a location in the center of DC? Why do they need a brand new facility that costs 200 million? The government is getting out of control. They spend and spend and then say they are broke and need to take more money from us. How about that IRS spending 50 million on employee confrences... I've just had it.

Seems like a really bad deal for the taxpayers.

criticism of homer at this juncture is warranted. he just paid a goalie $39 MM for 2yrs of work and last off season was wretched. the team has been headed backwards since 2010 and while the pronger injury played the major role in this decline, it's not as if the flyers have shown the ability to formulate contingency plans. he certainly can regain some luster w/ a good off season, but it will prob be his last if the team misses the plyoffs.
- isaiah520

What the Flyers paid Bryzgalov has zero effect on the team going forward. And the evidence of that is that the Flyers just signed Streit and Lacavalier.
It seems as though you are discounting that when you trade two top players, to get better in the future, it takes time. So yes, they went backwards since 2010. But that was known when they made the deals. They're going through a process that is is ongoing. There is no such thing as a contingency plan when you lose a player such as Pronger.
And I doubt that Holmgren is let go, even if they miss the playoffs.

get rid of PBS too

- 2Real

Funny thing is, a much bigger chunk of the NPR budget is funded by big corporations including defense contractors, oil companies, national banks and insurance companies... sounds like a liberal conspiracy to me.

how's your hope and change doing for you when you can't find a job to pay them off
- 2Real

I have a job and can pay them off. Mine actually aren;t bad. I'm fortunate to have parents that paid for most of my education. Plus I went to Temple, which isn't an expensive school.

My fiancé on the other hand struggles to make payments because her loans came with ridiculous adjustable rates (She had no idea what she was signing). Her loans will soon be my loans too.

Blaming Obama for all of this is the dumbest thing i've ever heard. This problem is shared between with republicans and democrats. Congress is made up for the most part of 'Old riche' people who have never experienced anything that most people are going through. They are all selfish wieners who are more interested in getting re-elected than helping anyone.

You see, being an elected official is like an internship for your next job. You allow your boosters to get rich and they will repay you when you're done.

I don't vote. I never have and I never will. Keep running out and electing people while our elected officials give you the illusion that your vote actually matters.

Could be worse, they could be the Miami taxpayers. Not only are they footing the bill for the new ballpark, but they paid to have Creed give them a theme song

The Flyers seem to think that any player that plays center can play the wing. They have tried this with Carter, Briere and schenn. Schenn played better at center than wing.
- PhillySportsGuy

They also tried it with Gagne.

How Public Radio could be cast as an enemy of the republic is really beyond me... like Bo Horvat, it's a reach to say the least.

I would recommend voting third party or going to the poll and submitting a no vote, rather than staying home. Staying home is a silent protest, in this case you probs want to be heard.

That is, heard by anybody other than us and the NSA.

he still hasn't acquired that top pair potential dman and it's killing this team in terms of creating a ceiling. let's see what he can do going forward.
- isaiah520

Morin has top pair potential. Luke Schenn does also. So that is incorrect.

Moving Coburn in a package to land a defenseman better than Coburn makes sense to me. Moving Coburn for picks as a straight salary dump makes zero sense to me.

They do need an AHL backup. Cal Heeter will take the starting role.
- PhillySportsGuy

Did not they get a college goalie for AHL?

Maybe a 1st rounder.

Assuming the Oilers pick in the top 15 again, the Canucks would trade Edler for Read and a top 15 pick along with gaining salary cap relief. Flyers get Edler for Read and Coburn. Oilers get the coveted Coburn for a 1st rounder.

I agree that government spending is out of control. The retreat is outrageous, yes. But there is so much other waste in their spending. I don't think this building really is one. For example, Obamas visit to Africa cost about 100 million. That's just not needed
