General consensus in MTL is NO MORE MIDGETS!!! Everyone is fed up of having a small team filled with little girls that keep getting brutalized by the Flyers and Bruins and now by the Sens and Toronto...
If the Habs sign Briere, Im either going to start cheering for NYR or OTT.
Oh and despite all his issues, Kristo seems like a really solid prospect and correct me if Im wrong but Thomas seems pretty mediocre... - Jaciems
Ironically I feel the same way about our team |

Habs played even better in front of Budaj and Halak fared quite well with us as well so your point sucks - Jaciems
Sooo what you're saying is that your franchise goalie is overhyped and overrated and sucks? |

Subban was often benched and as you said was too risky a player. He calmed that down and still put up solid offensive numbers. He is extremely talented and has turned into one of the best in the game. Prior to this year though he was an inconsistent player, without a doubt. - MidnightMarauder
Never said he was too risky and it was pretty rare that he was benched. Was just a HUGE deal everytime it happened. The reason Subban is so good is because of the risks he takes but he is better at picking his spots now. Dont know if he is the best d-man in the NHL, but def the most exciting. |

Thanks for the credit Jan!!
Well, Richards is a Ranger so I guess we all might as well move on. I'm hoping he has an 80pt. season and helps us win the Cup. He's not going anywhere next year so its all we can hope for.
People who are defending this move, the issue isn't Richards production or play. Even if Ritchie has a spectacular season, chances are he will be bought out. Unless Sather has some devious plan to avoid recapture if he retires.... |

Took a step back this year but he could still be a top 3 goalie for the next 10 years if he gets his head straight. Seems like playing in Montreal is really getting to him. Just not nearly as consistent as Lundqvist... |

Hasek won a cup late in his career. Never put a limit on the great ones. - MidnightMarauder
Hasek is physical freak toys with comebacks and gets in fights in roller hockey games. I mean outside of being great his body is freak of nature. |

He could be... but hes a one dimensional player. He doesnt have the grit you need as a small guy (like a Marchand). Hes got good hands... and thats about all I really know about the kid.
Maybe MTL could turn him into a second Gionta. |

He needs to learn how to skate with his head up. Too often did he get run over by an opponent. McIlrath stuck up for the kid often by bashing someone face with his fists. Ahhhh....I hope he makes the team |

So exactly what the Habs dont need right now...
Wouldnt be surprised if Briere is signed and we have Gionta 5'7 175lbs, Gallagher 5'9 175lbs, Desharnais 5'6 175lbs, Briere 5'10 179lbs, Thomas 5'9 170lbs, Plekanec 5'11 190lbs in our top 9... |

Thats now Blum, Weber and Gilbert.
Id like to see them go after Weber or Blum, both are young and Im sure they have a chip on their shoulders now. I dont know much about either, but Id prefer which ever one has better defensive awareness and isnt afraid to lower the boom. |

They will probably command a decent amount of money tho. Like if we trade dz for a pick and then sign weber for 3 mil, is it really an upgrade? |

Not really, neither one of them has had a ton of success at an NHL level. |

if it was a decent price, Tom Gilbert is definitely an upgrade as the 6th right handed defenseman on the blueline over Eminger.
But I don't think he'll be available for cheap. |

Would rather see Blum or McIlrath take that sixth defensive spot. |

I found this interesting; I am not sure if I agree though.
http://newyork.cbslocal.c...man-out-in-rangers-plans/ - MidnightMarauder
I kind of agree with it. As long as they're getting a top 6 forward tho. If you tell me we traded a package including DZ and MZA or hagelin for a LW who is bigger with decent speed, a mean streak and can score 20 to 30 goals id be very excited to me the most pressing need on this team is big winger who can snipe to go along with Kreider & nash. That would give this team a shot in the arm big time |
