Not a chance youre getting Kane for DZ and a prospect AND having WPG do us a favor and eat Pyatt's contract.
DZ, Miller, St. Croix/Fast, Pyatt and a 1st round pick and MAYBE WPG will think about it. - aecliptic
That's a ridiculous overpayment, Kane is good but your proposal indicates he is the best goal scorer in the league. |

Hes a 21 year old 30 goal scorer, what do you think its going to cost to get a guy whos not even close to hitting his prime?
DZ is a good trade chip, but hes not a big a chip as some of you might think. |

|
Nah, that package is good enough, if DZ has the value everyone here seems to think. - Ranger71
Noooo chance. Dz can get u wheeler, not evander kane. Its mcdonagh or nothing. |

I might have undersold that scenario but you took it to a kind of ridiculous level. If Del Zotto, a top prospect and a another asset can't get you Kane than keep it moving. I would take Wheeler in a heartbeat; you might be understating how good Wheeler is. |

Wheeler and dz are similarly valued imo. Mcdonagh and kane are too. Thats how good kane is. |

I know Kane is very good, believe me. Great skater, great hands, great shot and is a power forward. Has all the tools to become one of the best wingers in the game for about a decade. |

Very fair.
Kane would cost alot. Wheeler is ideal except he's a RW. We need a LW but I think someone could be versatile to move around. This deal has also been thrown around here daily |

Yea. A lot of people here propose trades for elite players by offering a solid player and like 4 extra mediocre assets. No team trades elite quality for mediocre quantity. |

Wheeler for DZ Im all for.
But Kane for DZ, they are not on the same level, not even close.
Heres my question to you about the prospects though... youre afraid to give up 2 assets on top of DZ? Why? I really like the upside of Miller, but he will not be anything more than a 3rd liner here stuck behind Nash and Cally on the RW... Stepan and Brassard down the middle. And we have Lindberg who is poised to be a legit 3rd line center in this league. Then theres St. Croix, who knows he has elite talents in juniors, we will see how he does in AHL, he still stuck behind a lot of other guys on our team and hes not your typical 3rd liner. Fast? Id love to see him, but again, stuck behind Hagelin and Kreider.
So to sum it up, were giving up DZ, two prospects who probably wont get passed the 3rd line and Pyatt... and a pick for E. Kane... Its a lot, but what Kane brings is more than any of those guys will bring. And like I said, you think were giving up too much, and Im telling you its a starting point and youd be lucky if WPG even thinks about counter offering. |

I am aware I just don't think gutting the system for one player, no matter how great, is a wise move. |

Would be nice to know what it would cost to pry JVR from Tronna...

Fair enough, I just don't like the idea of unloading for one player. You are likely right about what Kane will cost because he is an emerging star.
I am comfortable with "settling" for Wheeler. Still young and has produced nicely with Winnipeg.

I just wanted to give a bit of a reality check to the Kane deal.
Im all for bringing in Wheeler. Nash says he doesnt care playing either wing... so we can likely do...
Nash, Stepan, Wheeler
Which, on paper, looks quite nice. |

Yup but we wouldn't be gutting the system cuz theyd say no to the trade anyway. It would be a 1 for 1 deal like mcdonagh for kane + 3rd |

Yes it would.
Why would Winnipeg want to deal Kane anyway? He is by far their most dangerous scorer. |
