Would rather see Blum or McIlrath take that sixth defensive spot.

I think McIlrath is going to be in Hartford this season

if it was a decent price, Tom Gilbert is definitely an upgrade as the 6th right handed defenseman on the blueline over Eminger.

But I don't think he'll be available for cheap.

- jimbro83

I think he's a top 4 dman. Just a cap casualty in minny since heatley is hurt and cant be bought out.

I kind of agree with it. As long as they're getting a top 6 forward tho. If you tell me we traded a package including DZ and MZA or hagelin for a LW who is bigger with decent speed, a mean streak and can score 20 to 30 goals id be very excited to me the most pressing need on this team is big winger who can snipe to go along with Kreider & nash. That would give this team a shot in the arm big time

I dont care how big the winger is if its a top line winger for Nash... for example, if its Skinner. Hes small, but hes amazing.

Very cap friendly contract too.

Im all for it... hes not that small, but not a power forward for sure, very very good skills on that kid.

The problem is... the Blues dont need anymore defenseman, theyre pretty stacked over there.

Blues have Pietrangelo, Shattenkrik and Bouwmeester and just signed Leopold, don't think they are going for MDZ.

Oh I agree with a move needing to be made, I just think it is Staal, that might be moved.

Not thrilling gotta be honest. I wouldnt trade an arm and a leg. He seems more a playmaker to me anyway

in one of the lamest things the NHL has ever done, they have named Ovechkin to both post season all-star teams, first team left wing, 2nd team right wing, because he played both positions this season.

More than likely, would be nice to see him with the big club at some point next year though.

Not quite a Skinner trade, but he would provide what we want on the LW...

How about Tuomo Ruutu? Not an incredibly cap friendly contract, but we can try to get them to eat Pyatt's contract.

Oh gotcha. Staal for skinner seems like the most likely deal, but it never seems the obvious trade is what gets done

I would love that move, wow. Skinner has a ton of talent and a reuniting of all the Staal boys would make for a good NHL story.

Beat me to it, was about to post this, Taylor Hall was the third LW, so he got shafted. Nice job PHWA

Staal at $3.975 mil for two more years, Skinner at $5.56 for five more years, you basically have no wiggle room after signing the RFAs

Easy easy, haven't been up on the rumor mill as of late. Kinda took a step back from NHL related stuff, aside from the Vancouver-Ranger coaching trade, haha.

I am sure the Rangers can sweeten the pot by throwing in a Pyatt type. Carolina is good for it, they think Sekera is a top four defenseman in this league.

If you include Pyatt... 3.975 + 1.55 = 5.525

It becomes a wash. =D

Let's be realistic. This isn't going to happen before the season starts.

If you're the GM of any team, are you dealing anything significant for Staal before seeing him play at least a dozen games without issues from the eye injury?

Some of the GMs out there sure make boneheaded moves, are complete dumbasses at times, but I would think anyone with half a brain would be hesitant.

We can keep dreaming though.
