Agent for Kruger and Emery expects to initiate talks with #Blackhawks today. Kruger got his qualifying offer, but would like a 2-year deal.

Somewhere in Finland, Antti Raanta is openly weeping. - houseofcards74
No, because Crawford is likely gone after next season. This gives them a good veteran goalie to tutor Raanta starting in the 2014-15 season. |

What was the deal with Skille? Was he just a bad locker room guy...assuming he felt entitled? |

I believe he was quoted as saying he was looking for an increase. Let me see if I can find the article... - eburgio
Maybe he'd rather have an increase in the number of times his name is engraved on The Cup. It probably won't happen if he's looking for a raise, though.

Ryan Jones would be sweet for the Hawks.
Good 3rd/4th line guy who can bang some bodies and pop a few here and there. - Powerslave
Ryan Jones doesn't really bang bodies.... |

I'm not disagreeing with you at all, but it blows my mind that they had no problem paying Bickell $4M on the HOPE he doesn't go back to his usual self, yet could be reluctant to pay the same to a starting goalie they won the Cup with. I mean, if a bit over $1M of cap hit a year keeps your goaltending at the level it is, it OUGHT to be a no brainer. - Q...argh
Problem is, Crawford likely wont take less than Howard got from Detroit ($5.291M for the next 6 years), and he has won a cup!! |

Never saw anything of Sauve, so can't give an opinion of him, other than he turns out alright on NHL 13 (I think he was like an 82 in like 2015).
I think Beach has to take a pay cut if he wants to stay (not gonna keep his 1.2 million if he plays in NHL)
The rest I think stay. Lalonde only stays because the Hawks only have 5 other defenders under contract with the minors and one probably goes to the big club next year (Clendening, Stanton, Lavin, Dahlbeck, and Olsen) |

wrong, one pick before Setoguchi. 4 before Anze.

Looking back it can be strongly argued that Tallon's draft record is less than stellar. He obviously hit on Kane and Toews with high picks, but overall a very poor success rate. Hjarm the only productive NHL player out of 12 picks in '05. Toews 1 of 9 in '06, Kane 1 of 7 in '07, and 0 for 7 in '08 with Ben Smith maybe the only prospect at this point.
Not a great track record for the beloved Dale Tallon to this point. We will see what his '09-'13 drafts turn out to be. |

Probably. The Hawks only have room for 50 contracts. It all depends on who needs ELCs, new contracts, new players and such.
If Beach is brought back, he might be the last RFA the Hawks bring back. |

I don't think they'd be able to do this contract, sign Leddy/Kruger/Emery and then have money left over to sign Hammer next season and Toews/Kane the following year.
IF they could somehow pull this off.. well.. I might just have to go and enjoy myself. |

Tallon was Director of Player Personel begining in '98, and AGM before becoming GM in '02
Among the guys he would have had a hand in drafting with the Blackhawks, before Towes/Kane:
2001 - R3 Craig Anderson
2002 - R2 Keith; R5 Wisniewski, R9 Burish
2003 - R1 Seabrook; R2 Crawford; R8 Byfuglien
2004 - R2 Bolland; R2 Bickell; R7 Brouwer
2005 - R4 Hjalmarsson |

Rarely does an assistant GM get credit for drafting players. When Tallon was the GM his drafts were brutal. Let's not try sugar coat things..... |

Gotcha! We don't want to go down that path of Crawford being an "elite/5 mil per year" goaltender. Because, well.. he isn't. - CaptainBlackhawk
Have not posted here for months since early in the wing series....but I do check in for good laugh once in awhile...the howlers keep a coming...
I guess journey man Smith with one good year and playoff under his belt and Bobro oh he of a decent 25 gmes and who can forget that HOFer called Tukka Rask. Two signed at 5 plus and the other looking for 35 mil over 6 yrs. I just can't handle all the "elite" goaltending resumes with these guys!! |

Yep, the core of this team is Dale's, no matter how the revisionists might want to frame things. Still betting the truth regarding the QO's after the 2010 cup is subject to Kennedy assassination level lockdown as well. |

Hawks only, currently have 32 under contract (according to capgeek). If we resign all 8 RFA's and sign 3 UFA's that puts us at 43 players. Do we really have 7 players to bring up this next year or sign out of college? |
