It wouldn't have required Vik to sucker punch Chara - all he had to do was put the big man in a headlock, kinda what crawford did to help toews, and yank back a little to keep chara from trying to punch bicks....they wouldn't have called a 3rd man in....but the half ass shove to chara's back was next to useless....and ignoring the fact it took him 5 seconds of floating around to even do that. I like Stals, but that was just unforgivable

Stals is in it FOR STALS....no secret there.

You can make a strong argument based on Luongo's career stats being the same in the playoffs than regular season that his choking is a media myth. Luongo had a bad playoff run one year. The other "bad year" was when he only appeared in two games. His other years have been very good. All it takes is one bad game and people tag you. Look at Crawford and his "horrible glove side" and "he can't catch". Crawford even won that game and I'm sure there will always be people who will think his glove hand sucks.

BTW, contracts aside, I'd rather have Luongo as my goalie than Crawford.

- Hemingways

My recollection is he choked pretty bad in the two years the Hawks eliminated them and he also became a head case in 2011 when the Hawks came back from being down 3-0.

TG has never played at a level where you appreciate a teammate for having your back. Crawford scored huge points with his teammates for being there for Toews, Stalberg lost a whole lot of respect with his teammates for his cowardly display.

Funny how that works....The Detroit model transformed itself into the Chicago model.

Was just having this conversation with an employee of mine who as most are here in Detroit, Redwings fans.

He wasn't that excited about Stalberg going to the Wings.

Hearing that Rask extension -- although not done yet -- will be in the 8 year/$56M range.

$7 million a year is A LOT of change for ol' Tuuka! Him & Pekka gonna be the top goalies paid in the NHL in 2014

Has everyone lost their phucking minds paying goalies ?

There are fewer goalies than every other position. It is the easiest position to replace. I'm glad other organ I stations are wasting their $ on that position.

Same one who almost lead the league in every category except for Wins & GAA (Crow took those two categories.) Tuuka lead the league in SV% & SO.....but, he did stay at a Holiday Inn!

Carcillo hasnt proven he can change his reckless play. Cooke has. And he would be the grit and expierience on the bottom 6 that would be good for our team. We may have been able to play majority run and gun and have success in the lockout shortened year, but in an 82 game season you need guys that are going to chip and forecheck causing trouble for opposition d-men. JJ said their have been inquiries about carbomb, so move him and pick up cooke to complete the Saad and Shaw third line.

The Bruins & Pens are in the same position the Hawks were after '10 season....all this $$$ wrapped up in what 7-8 guys and gonna try to throw scraps on the bottom 6 or 3rd pairing on the blue line. It won't work and they'll suffer for a few years like we did. The fact that Bruins are offering up Seguin to possible trade, and letting Horton, Kelly and I believe Pevs go to FA is nuts. Pens are funny too...Blank check for Sid, Evgeni, Letang, Neal, Dupuis and they're trying to bring back Inginla?!?! Bust out the traks boys.....there's open ice tryouts coming for the Steel City.

Gigantic overpay for a goalie like Rask IMO but the Brutes must be banking on the cap going up after next season.

Jeremy Jacobs led the owners in the lockout looking for fiscal sanity - all of a sudden there's lots of extra cash around.

Jacobs wanted something in place to protect himself from himself .... and he's still his own worst enemy!

.....and how do we know this? Did the same teammates lose respect for Hossa when he refrained from retaliating during this past season? Or how about Kane?.......it's been a topic of discussion on this board before and Stalberg is not the only one who has done this.

Totally unnecessary to have a player like that on the roster when there are enough guys who have earned the opportunity in Rockford or character guys like Mayers who can at least teach the younger guys how to be professionals that could be available.

Both are a significantly better option.

He's probably PO'd that Ed Snider has more cash than he does and doesn't want to admit it.

Since he owns Sports Service the price of hot dogs are going to go up big time effective immediately.

I just think Stalberg isn't a top 6 player on the Hawks with any measured consistency.

He can get those minutes elsewhere and obviously wants those minutes. The guy wants to play and have a bigger role. That is a bad thing?

Really not a measure of cowardice or some obscure observation. It just is what it is. It happens all the time. I don't understand how this is a big deal.

They'll female dog and complain and say the players are getting too much $$$. Well stop offering the armored truck with the keys on the deal.
