Edit: 12 weeks...whatever. He is a hockey player, not a bodybuilder. Weight affects speed and agility as well, especially when added too quickly.

Carcillo hasnt proven he can change his reckless play. Cooke has. And he would be the grit and expierience on the bottom 6 that would be good for our team. We may have been able to play majority run and gun and have success in the lockout shortened year, but in an 82 game season you need guys that are going to chip and forecheck causing trouble for opposition d-men. JJ said their have been inquiries about carbomb, so move him and pick up cooke to complete the Saad and Shaw third line.

Just incredible what Shero is doing - Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Benn, Fleury, Martin and now Dupuis. And 16 guys making minimum wage. Somebody is going away there, has to be.

I'd rather have a center like Hendricks. Has there ever been a rumor that the Hawks were even interested in a guy like that recently? They had Reasoner for 5 minutes but since Madden, they've not had luck getting one in the Gordon/Hendricks mold. Zeus was more of a 2nd line swing center who made double what the others would get.

Remember the Hawks had to make some tweaks to the Detroit model because of the cap.

Personally, I think he can be a 2C in the NHL. Sort of like Bolland in that you can play him anywhere on lines 2-4. But he does a few things that point toward higher offensive potential:

1) + speed (not a blazer but a guy who will have better than average speed in the NHL)
2) passing, when the puck hits his blade it is often coming out fast and his linemates need to have their sticks on the ice.
3) faceoffs, was very good at least at the junior level
4) makes plays at high speed and makes his linemates better

Definitely more offensive potential as a 2nd line C than Bolland had. Saw him playing against Halifax a couple times this year. Obviously he got outshined by McKinnon/Drouin, but he did show some very slick passing skills and all at high speed. Pair him with a sniper like they did in Moncton with Jaskin and he will produce. He has elite playmaking abilities. I am excited to see him develop

Clarkson will only get that type of money from either the Oilers (pending if they trade Gagner) or Leafs....Uncle Lou won't come close to that what so ever. He's a old school mind just like Scotty is regarding goalies and their pay days!

Amen. The Bickell money I kind of get after his playoff run and his rare-ish mix of size and skill. The Hawks were pretty much hand-cuffed to bringing him back. That said, whatever Leddy did to deserve anywhere close to $3 million must have happened when I was in the bathroom during Hawks games this year. Love his skating; really, really, really like his promise, but for that price tag I'm dubious. He couldn't get 8 minutes of ice time down the stretch. He's a pup, take a Subban-ish deal, prove yourself, and then cash in.

Teams get in trouble in salary capped leagues when they pay for promise. Really hoping this does not happen to the Hawks.

Bick's deal is looking better by the day. Provided he doesn't regress. I'm not expecting playoffs results, but effort. I'd expect that if he stays on the top line, and remembers what his role is, he's an easy 25 goals.
