I have to chuckle on the 2nd line center talk....Lats summer at this time Kane was that guy and he never took a shift at 2nd line center in camp.
We will see.. - Al
I'm 100% certain we'll have a 2nd line centre when the puck drops on opening night. The only question is who?

Likely will be some off the wall / could never have guessed it signing sometime during the summer. Probably a distant cousin of Igor Larionov currently playing in Siberia that Scotty met in Red Square 6 years ago.

If Briere asked for a one year two-two and half million deal you have to all over that like white on lice. |

5 year deal, $23.5 million. Guess he likes teams with leaky defenses and shaky goaltending. |

Seriously they're the Redskins of the NHL.. aren't they always major players in free agency and flop more often than not? |

Everyone applauded him when he traded Carter and Richards.......then those two win a cup in LA.....he signs Bryz....two years later they buy him out. Their defense is shaky and they only have two lines.....and if Steve Mason is their goalie next year..... |

Man....they're a couple million over the cap...which means someone has to go.....with very little depth, shaky defense, and no goalie....and is there a reason why people think Buffalo would trade within the conference and give them Miller?? I could see Halak going to the Flyers but what does Philly have that St Louis wants???
What a mess!!
Laviolette....fired by Thanksgiving.....next coach of the ??????
He's a good coach too.......he has no chance. |

That would be me. Think about how many bad deals this team has made. Bryzgalov, Chris Gratton, to name a few |

Now that the Flyers have to shed salary in order to get back to the floor, PLUS they still need to bring in a goal-tender, would anyone want to see the 'Hawks try to bring in Wayne Simmonds as much as I would? |

I would certainly make a call......I love Hartsy but he is signed forever.....they can't take on any salary so prospects would have to go the other way and the hawks would have to shed someone as well if they sign Leddy, Kruger, and Emery......wouldn't mind SImmonds either....
I just looked at Cap Geek....oh my!
Look at those bad contracts.......!!! |

Real cheap if possible which I don't think happens. He makes almost 4 mil per. They'll need to find a team that has space and trades him or places him on waivers.
Also Giroux, B. Schenn and Coutierer are restricted free agents. Your move Holmgrem. |

Of course I'd love Simmonds in Chicago, but with a cap hit of $3.975 per season I don't see that happening. Maybe some of their lower end guys (cost wise) could be trade targets for Stan. I would be impressed if Stan could find a way to pry Courtier away from Philly. Homer is going to be looking for draft picks, I'd have no issue with Stan being aggressive. |

Timmonen is about the only one I can think of who really worked out for them. They had bad luck with Pronger getting hurt, but otherwise....
The classic is trading Bobrovsky to the BlueJackets then allegedly making an attempt to get him back after he wins the Vezina. They along with the Canucks are the gifts that keep on giving. |
