Nice job ace. Now use that website you glanced at for 2 seconds and remove pronger's money by trading him to show the number they'll have after LTIR relief for him and come back and talk. I'd make sure I checked my facts before using all caps next time. Make's you look a bit stupid. And I did all that while making wishes and smoking crack so you should be fine!

This guy keeps saying the FLyers don't have the money. We hear this every year yet they find a way to pay for players. Also, right now thy really do have the money.

Yes I do...Sign Vinny to 3-4 year deal and move B.Schenn or Coots and other pieces (Coburn/Mesz/Read/Picks) for a good young #1 dman (Yandle or Edler)...We'd be playing for the Cup immediately...I'm not waiting around for 5 years for young dmen to develop...

Having a home grown defense corps is an extremely frustrating process when you start from scratch like we have to do now, but it's the best, most cost effective way to go about solidifying your blue line. Why break the bank for one player (let's say yandle or edler) who won't solve our problems. Yes they can move the puck and are darn good at it, and we need a little bit more of that (maybe this streit guy will help that along), but our main problem is team defense!!!! Yeah we can score some more goals if we have one of the top offensive d men on our team, but that won't mean anything when we give up multiple odd man rushes a game cause the whole team is focused on scoring and not goal prevention.

We're lucky cause we keep winning one Cup after another...If we sign Vinny free and in the clear, guess what, some of those young guys are getting traded...We don't need them...Homer's the most impatient GM in the league...
- Flyfreaky

Not this time. He said he's going to try to keep the youth together, which I support. Trading all your young guys for mid-aged players isn't how to win a cup. All recent cup winners have acquired their great skill through drafting an home-growing. Pittsburgh with Crosby, Malkin, Fleury and Letang. Chicago with Kane, Toews, and Keith. Detroit with Datsyuk, Kronwall, Zetterberg, and Lidstrom. Boston deviates this the most from this, but they still put homegrown players like Seguin, Krejci, and Hamilton in high priority. That's why if we trade our youth for mid-aged players, our skill is going to go into decline while homegrown teams like Colorado, Florida, and Edmonton become the new Cup contenders. We need to take it slow.

^Theres some truth in this. Giroux is beginning to enter his prime, and if our team is built around him, then why all of the sudden are the flyers going to try and be patient and wait 4-5 years til the youth of our team is in their primes..

Odd. When I read that Texas state taxes are the same as in Florida (pretty good) I assumed they would be one of the favorites. Guess it must not be about the money for him.

Though I'm going to predict that Vinny becomes the first guy to draw buyout checks from two different teams

A few years ago, the LA Kings had tons of cap room, lots of good prospects due to drafting high, and a few marketable veterans....today they are a veteran but still fairly young team with little cap room and a so-so development system due to trades and drafting low.....

....So why do we hear them associated with big ticket items like Iginla (cap room) and Seguin (would need a big prospect/draft pick package) ?

I don't doubt that the Kings have done due diligence on these players, on the off chance they could be had on the cheap; but my guess is that once the price becomes clear, they say thanks anyway and the "talks" end.....

Except there's that whole cap thing.

Define 'overpay' so we all know where that line is.
