Philly DOES NOT HAVE THE CAP SPACE TO SIGN HIM. So unless somehow they're going to magically dig themselves out of the 'only have 4.1mil available' area. He's not signing with Philly. Will not sign with Philly. Cannot sign with Philly. Philly will have to make a move to shed salary. If they were going to get rid of Coburn, they'd have done so at the draft. So you're wishful crack smoking thinking on this.

Nice job ace. Now use that website you glanced at for 2 seconds and remove pronger's money by trading him to show the number they'll have after LTIR relief for him and come back and talk. I'd make sure I checked my facts before using all caps next time. Make's you look a bit stupid. And I did all that while making wishes and smoking crack so you should be fine!

yeah because, the equipment manager is always the first to know, especially when a deal is not final.

GM's tell equipment managers to pack players bags when deals aren't final ALL the time.

The person who told me is still in the NHL family working and has 2 cup rings. No need to be skeptical I don't come here very often perhaps years between posting. Out of respect for a former friend I don't say too much of what was shared with me. As old news this hurts no one

Teams can go 10% over the cap during the offseason, giving us 6.4 million more in room. Once the season start, Pronger goes on LTIR, so we can assume now at this moment that we have 5.6 million more in cap relief, with a 0.8 million cushion that we can only use during the offseason, but have to get under before the season starts. That gives us 9.7 mil in cap space. With one of Mezaros or Coburn expected to be traded, that gives us between 4-4.5 mil more in space. So we can assume to have in the area of 14 million in room. Your argument is invalid.

Do people still want to sign Clarkson now that word is he could command 7 years / 6.5 per?

Not sure what's funnier, those Clarkson numbers or that Bozak's agent put an 8 year offer on the table

Morin and Hagg are two great prospects with top-pairing potential. I don't really want to trade Coots or BSchenn for a Dman when we have them.

He won't get that from anyone
He can either move his price down, or retire

Bozak either has an amazing or clueless agent. I lean towards the second

Indeed. Funny thing to say when consensus is Morin was one of the wackiest picks in the first round. Now that doesn't mean he can't be an NHL player but...

Look at the down the road plans. Do you really want to trade a 21 or 20 year old with huge upside for a 27 or 28 year old? They're our guys of the future. They will still be young when Giroux is old. We have 2 good defensive prospects. Hagg was a steal at 41, and if anyone from this years draft class could be the elite defenseman that comes out of the 2nd round (Like Weber, Keith, Letang, Kronwall, Subban, etc) it's Hagg. Morin, we'll see. But his top potential is definitely a smoother skating, better puck moving version of Luke Schenn. A very solid #2 defenseman.

Yes I do...Sign Vinny to 3-4 year deal and move B.Schenn or Coots and other pieces (Coburn/Mesz/Read/Picks) for a good young #1 dman (Yandle or Edler)...We'd be playing for the Cup immediately...I'm not waiting around for 5 years for young dmen to develop...

Again this is pretty presumptuous considering you just drafted these guys two days ago

One thing I noticed over the years is how attached fans get to players on their teams...I don't care who we trade ever if it's gonna make the team better...

Why do you always put "more in two hours" or "more later tonight" at the end of your blogs? I don't think I've once seen you actually meet a deadline that you've set for yourself like that, I think in the future a "more when new info comes in" would be much more appropriate.

We're lucky Homer isn't planning on being as impatient as you... I mean, I'd love to get Edler, but not for a 20/21 year old. For Hartnell +, I'd do. But the Couv wouldn't. That's the problem.

We're lucky cause we keep winning one Cup after another...If we sign Vinny free and in the clear, guess what, some of those young guys are getting traded...We don't need them...Homer's the most impatient GM in the league...

Flyers never wanted Suter or Parise, we may have made the offer, however Homer did this to drive the price up so the Pens couldn't get both of them. Instead they went to the wild, a team the flyers rarely play
- arichardson22

I'm sorry, but you don't offer two 10 year 100 million dollar contracts for players you "don't want". That's just stupid.

Alittle bit but it's presumptuous to say any Dman who's never played in the NHL could be a top-pairing guy. Gormley, Rielly, Klefbom, etc. I think those guys have top pairing potential, but that's all it is right now, potential. That's all I'm referring to when I say potential top-pairing guys, I don't mean they WILL be. Even if these guys (Morin, Hagg) don't reach their potentials, I think they could be solid top-4 guys. But again, they could easily not pan out.
