So if I have it right teams as of midnight were allowed to start speaking to agents about deals, which I guess means verbal agreements can happen, and that any compliance buyout has to hit waivers today so they can be bought out by tomorrow...unless they have a NTC/NMC, then I guess you just have to do it by 5pm tomorrow. Is that about right?

I wonder if it will be reported or leaked out if someone agrees to a deal prior to Friday at noon.

Then I thought about it and pulled the offer

I would think yeah, there will be leaks for sure, like Vinny's deal. It makes sense: the other GMs would obviously like to know who's not on the market anymore (unless player renegs last minute, ala Iginla); other players/agents want the other GMs to know as well so that teams that missed out can look at alternatives (i.e. Weiss and Bozak's value probably went up now that Vinny's off the market).

He's declined before; he just wants a one-way contract (and I think he's earned it), I would be very surprised if it didn't get done later in the summer with the rest of the RFAs.

It's only a formality. They had to offer him that to retain his rights. They're negotiating now. That offer/refusal wasn't the ending.
