If the Leafs do buy out Komi , the magnanimous one should then give half his buyout money to his idol and role model Mr Aki Berg. |

Does Jeff Carter get rag dolled and spends half the game on his ass? The contract is an albatross and I doubt he does anything worthwhile next year either. - LeafMan
I am still baffled that 1 half season of sub-par play has made this guy the whipping boy for all Leaf fans. In previous seasons, he was one of the only guys most fans did not want to see moved. If I am the GM, I give him 1 more season to rebound. The only way I would buy him out is if Vinny says the Leafs are his choice (very unlikely). I would take Grabo (and his contract) over any of the other free agents available ( who would all want larger/longer contracts than Grabo's) |

I meant in the terms of the more goal scoring centerman offensive type. Jeff Carter is a more goal scoring centerman who was shifted to the wing. Grabo can be shifted to the wing. - Mapleleafs_91
Yes he could, and hopefully we get another center that they must shift him to the wing, to make room for. |

And when/if a move is made to upgrade at C (inclusive of moving out Grabo's $5.5 by trade or buy out) with a guy like Lecavalier or Stastny or whoever the nom du jour is, having two offensive centres, one shutdown/defensive guy (McClement) and one shutdown/offensive guy (Bolland) will look pretty darn good to go with Kadri and ???. This move was made with that kind of roster in mind...no doubt about it. - Deeps27
Thats the point, Grabovski isn't moving, we have limited cap space after signing our RFA, Bolland just limited us from going after a top 6 player. Not that he's a bad player, but it wasn't exactly a need of ours, and its an expensive one at 3.4 million. |

If Carlyle thought their hearts and lungs could take it, Bolland, McClement and Kuli play 9 of the last 10 minutes of that game. |

Liles and Grabo only had one bad season each... Liles's contract isn't a mammoth one, in any case, and Grabo will probably bounce back. - Feeling Glucky?
Liles doesn't have a huge contract... but it is a pretty hefty one for a guy who's your 6-7 defenseman.... and who really can't be used to kill penalties.
It kind of angers me that Nonis has offered Fraser a two-way deal and then continues to carry Liles. Fraser deserves 1.2-1.5 guaranteed after his contributions last year. |

Up until this past season, Grabo was one of the Leafs best players (the previous two seasons).
He simply will not be bought out this year.
It was just as foolish to think Brad Richards was going to be bought out.

IF (and that's a big "if" I don't believe will happen) Lecavalier signs here, Grabo is bought out. |

Ive always seen grabo as the type of player to score goals than rather make that sweet pass like a thorton or a kadri for example. It would make perfect sense to add him on the wing, because 1) He does not belong on the 3rd line and 2) He would fit in nicely between Lupul Kadri Grabo which yes, does rule out clarkson/horton but the demand of money being asked by clarkson is said to be really high... We will find out soon enough |

Acquiring Bolland limits the Leafs ability to upgrade our #1 center position, and 2nd line RW. It's no longer a possibility to sign both Lecavalier and a guy like Clarkson. - ThePresident
Why? If those guys are available and willing to sign with Toronto what is to stop the Leafs from using buyouts or making additional trades to accomodate them? Still have two buyouts, and you can exceed the cap by 10% in the offseason. That's another $6.4 in salaries you can bring on. |

Who do you think is better, Luke Schenn or Coburn? - Atomic Wedgie
This past season, I think Luke was slightly better, but Coburn was injured and seems to have more upside. Tell me how Luke played or progressed in his seasons in TO? |

Leafs fans need to get over this.
It was a qualifying offer. It doesn't indicate (at all) what the Leafs feel the guy is worth. It was simply paperwork to ensure that he didn't become a UFA.
It's a smart thing to do. No point in offering a guy a new contract until you at least see how his skull has healed.
He is now a RFA. There is absolutely no urgency to getting the guy's name on a new contract. It is much better for the Leafs to wait and see how all the other contracts shake out.
I'm sure Fraser and his agent know this. |
